Once reserved for high-end consumers, ALKILU aims to make OLED technology part of everyday life; introduces a product line designed to attract the eco-conscious, everyday consumer
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ShowStoppers @ CES 2014 -- ALKILU Enterprises today announced that it has unveiled an entire line of affordable OLED lighting products for everyday use. Based in Los Angeles, California, the company also made its own official debut as part of the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"We're thrilled to introduce OLED lighting to the consumer market and we think CES is the perfect venue for this announcement," said Alex Khayat, Founder and CEO. "Most people have never even heard of OLED technology, and those who have, know that it's usually very expensive. Unlike LED, incandescent and other forms of lighting, OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes) generate and emit light by passing electricity through thin organic layers. They are both eco-friendly (mercury-free, with no UV emissions) and energy-efficient (cool to the touch, with almost no heat generation). Khayat believes these qualities will make them a great fit with eco-conscious consumers.
"Lighting currently consumes over 23% of the total electricity generated in the United States - that's a staggeringly high figure," said Khayat. "OLED lighting is going to play a major role in reducing that number by changing the way we light our world."
The company's products - including camping lights, bike lights, nightlights, makeup mirrors and others - are currently available for pre-order, with shipments beginning in April/May of 2014.
