Tableau Software to Offer Official Product Certification for Desktop and Server Products

Customers can now achieve two levels of certification to demonstrate their expertise and know-how

SEATTLE, Jan. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA) today announced it will offer official Product Certification for its Desktop and Server products. Customers can achieve two levels of certification titles, Qualified Associate and Certified Professional. This new Product Certification Program will provide Tableau customers with more opportunities to help their organizations, advance their careers, build their resumes and validate their Tableau knowledge and skills. The Certification level for both products will allow those that are highly skilled to stand out from the crowd.

Previously, Tableau offered product exams exclusively at its customer conferences for its Desktop product. Today, exams are delivered via online testing platforms.

"We are excited to offer an official Product Certification for our customers, partners and consultants around the world," said Nigel Stoodley, Vice President of Customer Solutions at Tableau Software. "Being Tableau certified is a significant accomplishment and we're confident that these two levels of certification will showcase the expertise and skills of those who thoroughly understand our products."

Tableau customers were engaged in the beta testing of each exam. Their guidance and feedback helped to ensure Tableau is offering credentials of the highest quality.

"Tableau Server is powerful and richly functional. Mastering it with depth takes time, experience, study and the willingness to dig in and explore its workings," said Chris Gerrard a business intelligence consultant and the first Tableau Server Certified Professional. "The Tableau Server Certification exam is a good one. It's tough, long, comprehensive, and really exercises one's technical knowledge and ability to think about how the product works."

The exams are hands-on and require use of the product to find solutions. Most of the exams may be taken online at http://www.tableausoftware.com/certification except for the Server certification, which must be done in-person at a Tableau regional office and can be arranged by emailing certification@tableausoftware.com.

Product Certification time requirements and prices are as follows:

--  Desktop Qualification - Two hour, online exam. $250 USD
--  Desktop Certification - Three hour, online exam. $400 USD
--  Server Qualification - One hour, online exam. $250 USD
--  Server Certification - Six hour, in-person exam. $600 USD
Tableau Product Certification is currently available in English but the company expects to add more languages in the future.
