Chinese Smartphone Maker Ramos Appears on New York Times Square Large Screen During China's National Day Holiday

The never-before-seen "look and feel" of the new phone from the young and entrepreneurial company is just one example of how China is transforming from product manufacturer to product creator

NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sixty-six China-based manufacturers including Huawei, Gree, Haier and Ramos joined hands to run short bilingual films in both Chinese and English promoting their brands on Thomson Reuters' large set of screens overlooking New York's Times Square from October 1-3. The promotional event was timed to coincide with the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The event represented the largest showcasing of Chinese firms in New York's Times Square, one of the world's most visited tourist attractions. New York's Times Square has been a particularly popular spot for international brands for visibility. Presence on the screens has been highly competitive due to the limited spots available. Ramos, a dark horse that emerged in China's mobile phone market in 2015, demonstrated its strength and vision in global integration and service in concert with 65 other manufacturers.

Ramos highlighted the firm's brand philosophy of "Fear Nothing, Do Something" in the short films. Established in 2001, Ramos was one of the pioneers of China's music players. With more than 35 million users to date, Ramos sells products in more than 50 countries and regions worldwide. Jointly developed by Ramos and BYD, the Ramos MOS1 is Ramos' first smartphone that was shown on the large screens. The phone has remained highly popular since launching in August, largely due to its attractive appearance and power efficiency. Available in four colors -- gold, silver, grey and pink -- the mobile phone is exceptionally eye-catching with the product's tagline "inspiration of beauty".

Being Ramos' first smartphone, MOS1 was highly appreciated by shoppers. They commented that MOS1 has a truly awesome look -- both the front and back are made with 2.5D curved tempered glass, a crystal metal frame with a five-surface edge, a 1.9 mm ultra-narrow golden rim in combination with an ultra-thin 6.6 mm all-metal frame to create a look and feel rarely seen before. At the same time, one of the leading selling points of the MOS1 is that it comes with no pre-installed apps, ensuring that the user is not saddled with unwanted content. The result is that the content mix is kept simple and that the phone delivers a great user experience. The MOS1 is equipped with a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM storage. The device comes with 3050mAh super safe batteries made by BYD, significantly adding more hours of usage time before needing a recharge.

Ramos is ready to launch MOS1 max, the company's second smartphone, in October 2015. The smartphone is designed to cater to users seeking a sleek appearance and long battery life.
