IT Organizations and Software Vendors Can Now Expand Their Own Systems' Functionality by Integrating Mobile App Management and Security Using Apperian's Open API

Apperian Extends Open API Platform to Improve Reach of Existing Enterprise Systems and Enhance Deployment Options for Mobile App Developers

BOSTON, Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Apperian® Inc., the mobile application management (MAM®) and security company, today announced any combination of its platform's capabilities can now be accessed by, and integrated into, existing IT infrastructure or processes through its comprehensive set of APIs. The Apperian API Platform enables systems, including traditional MDM or EMM systems, corporate portals, custom-built mobile app stores and mobile app ISVs, to extend their own functionality by leveraging Apperian's best-in-class mobile application management and security capabilities.

"While demand for our full platform continues to grow, there are many enterprise mobility projects pushing the boundaries of their current systems," said Brian Day, President and CEO at Apperian. "By exposing our platform's functionality via APIs, existing systems and enterprise workflows can leverage our unique features to securely deploy and manage mobile apps in enterprise and extended enterprise settings. In a market filled with proprietary and cumbersome approaches that make it difficult to securely reach every targeted user, we wanted to maximize openness so organizations can truly reach the potential that mobility can deliver in work settings."

As the volume and importance of mobile apps being used in the enterprise increases, and the target audiences broaden, many IT systems and first generation enterprise mobility management platforms are struggling to securely deploy apps to 100% of users who need them.

Tony Rizzo, Entrepreneur in Residence at Blue Hill Research, states in the 'Enterprise Mobile App Stores and Mobile Application Management' report,"the Open Platform API provides the necessary means for the Apperian platform to be integrated with other existing enterprise IT systems and applications as well as with major third-party ISVs." Further, "the three companies that we spoke with [for the writing of the report] all view this as a key value proposition for the use of Apperian - it significantly streamlines the overall deployment process, provides great flexibility in evaluating the effectiveness and updating of all mobile policies, markedly speeds up time to highly secure deployment, and above all, considerably reduces overall costs."

Integrating with the Apperian API Platform exposes functionality covering the complete mobile app lifecycle, including capabilities such as app onboarding, app inspection, security and management policies, app signing, app distribution, private-branded enterprise app stores and app analytics to:

--  Improve the reach and security of traditional enterprise mobility
management products - Traditional EMM products require that devices be
placed under management with MDM profiles in order to distribute
policy-enabled apps. By integrating with Apperian, traditional EMM
products and mobility management teams can now distribute policy-enabled
apps without requiring device control, enabling organizations to
overcome limitations and reach 100% of target users.
--  Provide greater flexibility for mobile application developers - Both
in-house and contracted app developers can publish new or modified apps
directly into the Apperian platform via APIs. This reduces manual steps,
minimizes the risk of distributing incorrect versions of apps and
facilitates the management of app signing credentials. It also enables
developers to easily apply a comprehensive library of security and
management policies. Many leading mobile app development platforms
already integrate with Apperian, including IBM Worklight, Appcelerator,
Mobiquity, Xamarin, iFactr, AnyPresence and ViziApps.
--  Increase effectiveness of enterprise Dev Ops - Enterprise Dev Ops
professionals and IT mobile administrators can automate the process of
securing, managing and delivering mobile apps to end users with a
variety of policies accessed through Apperian's API and direct
integration with continuous automation build servers, such as Jenkins,
eliminating many manual tasks associated with traditional mobility
        management tools.
Apperian APIs are offered as part of the Apperian MAM® Platform and are open to use by all current customers and partners. To learn more about how to integrate Apperian's advanced capabilities with existing systems, workflows and apps, please visit: https://www.apperian.com/product/apperian-api/
