inWatch Signs Strategic Partnership with Qualcomm and Borqs for Smartwatch Standardization at Baselworld
China's Premier Smartwatch Brand, inWatch, Now Enabling All Traditional Watchmakers To Go Smart Rapidly with Wear4G Platform and SnapDragon Wear 2100 Processor
BASEL, Switzerland, March 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In a launch ceremony officiated by Baselworld's China Pavilion on March 20, 2016 at the world's most famous show for the watch industry with over 150,000 attendees, Baselworld 2016; Qualcomm, inWatch, and Borqs announced a strategic partnership easing the barriers of entry for traditional watch brands and manufacturers to integrate next-gen smart capabilities into their watches.

The initiative is being led by inWatch, a four year old startup, but already a veteran in the wearables industry with almost a million users in China. inWatch has been making waves as of late with their partnerships with Tencent, Swarovski, and Alibaba. "Smartwatches aren't just about hardware. It's a highly complicated supply chain involving hardware, software, and data service. For a traditional watch to go smart would normally take a year if they could even piece together the resources. Now with SnapDragon Wear 2100 and inWatch's Wear4G solution, we can offer turnkey solutions to market within even a fiscal quarter," said Neo Wang, CEO of inWatch.
Qualcomm's SnapDragon Wear 2100, freshly announced in only February 2016, boasts exciting new features for the wearable sector. Presenting the features on site was Pankaj Kedia, Sr. Director for Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 2100 processor is 30 percent smaller than Qualcomm's previous-generation wearable processors, enabling thinner, sleeker product designs. An integrated, ultra-low power sensor hub supports richer algorithms with greater accuracy, providing a cohesive picture of users and their environments. And, the processor uses 25 percent less power, extending the wearable's battery life and offering manufacturers more freedom to innovate in features and design.
Borqs is excited that as an inWatch partner, it can enable new possibilities for OEMs to accelerate the deployment of innovative wearable devices. The SnapDragon and inWatch Wear4G platform consists of a full suite of processors, software, support tools and reference designs from Borqs to allow mobile, fashion, and sports customers to bring a diverse range of full-featured wearables to the market quickly. Representing Borqs was George Thangadurai, President of Borqs U.S.
"Our event is called 'A Watch Revolution,' and we mean it. The inWatch Wear4G platform is the new standard in the watch industry and the watch brands we all love will soon be launching new smart features with it," said Sam Force, President of inWatch USA. Working with Qualcomm and Borqs, inWatch marked the official opening of the smart wearable device 4G era in Baselworld, Switzerland.
