Dynamsoft's Barcode Reader SDK Adds PHP Support on Linux

Version 4.2 Linux PHP Support Adds to Windows PHP Offering to Quickly Enable Barcode Recognition in Web Applications

VANCOUVER, April 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dynamsoft's Barcode Reader software development kit (SDK) now includes support for the Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) language on Linux platforms so developers can easily enable barcode reading from images, scanned documents and webcam captures in a PHP application on Linux. This includes support of web applications in ASP.NET, in C# or VB.NET, and PHP on Windows or Linux.

The new PHP barcode reader toolkit for Linux supports PHP x64 version 5.3 to 5.6. Both Thread Safe (TS) and Non Thread Safe (NTS) options are provided. The Dynamsoft toolkit works with Linux Debian, Ubuntu, and CentOS operating systems.

The updated Barcode Reader 4.2 SDK has built-in support for a variety of the most common 1D and 2D barcode symbols. Dynamsoft continually updates the SDK to enhance features and capabilities. Over the past year, updates have added support for a variety of barcode symbology and support for reading barcodes from GIF, BMP, JPEG, PNG and TIFF images. The Barcode Reader SDK can be used as a standalone solution. It can also be used as an add-on to Dynamsoft's Dynamic Web TWAIN or Dynamic .NET TWAIN SDKs to enable barcode reading from document scanners or webcams. These SDKs allow full-featured TWAIN scanning and webcam image capture in a web or desktop application, respectively.

In addition to PHP, Dynamsoft's Barcode Reader 4.2 SDK provides .NET, ActiveX / COM, C, and C++ application programming interfaces (API).

"Adding support for Linux broadens the application options our customers have when using our barcode reader SDK and it's important for us to continue to ensure our customers have a myriad of options with Dynamsoft SDKs," said Amy Gu, Vice President of Dynamsoft.

Dynamsoft's Barcode Reader SDK allows application developers to almost instantly embed barcode decoding functionality into their web or desktop applications. It requires just a few lines of code instead of coding hundreds to more than a thousand lines from scratch. It saves months of development time. It also significantly reduces development costs and reduces long-term application support costs. It enables barcode recognition from image files, scanned images, and from images captured on webcams or smartphones.
