Go for gold with a new limited-edition, metallic graphing calculator
Texas Instruments adds two new colors to the TI-84 Plus CE line-up
DALLAS, May 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (NASDAQ: TXN)(TI) today unveiled two new colors that will join the colorful collection of TI-84 Plus Color Edition (CE) graphing calculators, just in time for the back-to-school shopping season. The limited-edition, metallic gold TI-84 Plus CE, "Golden Ratio," and sleek white, "Bright White," will be available in retail stores this summer. The two new colors join the already vibrant seven-color line-up of TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculators, which include bold hues like Radical Red, Plum Pi and Positively Pink.
"For us, it's about providing the educational tools and resources to help students build a strong foundation in math and science, setting them up for success in the classroom, college, and beyond," said Peter Balyta, Ph.D., president of TI Education Technology (@pbalyta). "We are always looking to do our part to help get students excited about learning critical science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects, and we hope these new colors will generate extra enthusiasm as students head back to school."
The new "Golden Ratio" and "Bright White" TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculators are everything students and teachers love about TI calculators and are also:
-- Now 30 percent thinner and 30 percent lighter than the TI-84 Plus, with
six times the memory.
-- Armed with a rechargeable battery that can crunch numbers for up to a
month on a single charge.
-- Allowed on important college entrance exams like the PSAT/NMSQT*, SAT*
and ACT® exam, as well as Advanced Placement* exams that allow or
require a graphing calculator.
Students who purchase a TI-84 Plus CE in middle school will still be able to use it in high school, college and into their careers. "Like all of our calculators, the TI-84 Plus CE is built like a tank and can withstand the test of time," said Robin Roberts, an industrial designer at TI who helped create the calculator. "The lightweight, yet durable, design also makes the graphing calculator easier to carry to and from school for today's students who are on the go."
While parents will appreciate the durability of the TI-84 Plus CE, teachers will appreciate that the key placement, navigation and menus are the same as earlier TI-84 Plus models so they can continue to use their favorite classroom lessons.
