Verizon and Samsung unveil 4G LTE Network Extender for homes and businesses
New device uses 4G LTE small cell technology to enhance voice and data coverage for small business locations and residences
BASKING RIDGE and RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J., June 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon and the Networks Division of Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today unveiled a new 4G LTE Network Extender designed to enhance wireless voice communications and deliver robust data coverage for residential and business locations. Adding to the existing 4G LTE Network Extender for Enterprise, the new 4G LTE Network Extender expands Verizon's 4G LTE in-building coverage solution portfolio to include homes, small business locations, restaurants, smaller public safety offices and branch office locations.
The 4G LTE Network Extender features Samsung's innovative small cell technology, which enables Verizon subscribers to make HD Voice and Video calls, access mobile data, and stream content from in-building locations where existing cellular coverage may not adequately reach. The product provides a cost-effective and simple-to-install solution to overcome the challenges of weak coverage in buildings with dense materials or located in remote areas -- helping significantly boost productivity for offices and residences.
"Whether at home or at the office, more people are demanding high-quality, uninterrupted mobile communications - which includes streaming content and high-bandwidth mobile applications for accessing content on the go," said Magnus Ojert, Vice President and General Manager, Verizon Customer Team, Networks Division for Samsung Electronics America. "Samsung has pioneered industry-leading network solutions that power communications around the world, and we are excited to deliver the 4G LTE Network Extender for Verizon's customers."
Simplified installation, fast data
The new solution works like a miniature 4G LTE cell tower in homes or business environments within a 7,500 square foot area, providing HD Voice coverage and fast 4G LTE data speeds for up to seven devices with an eighth channel reserved for 911 calls. Additionally, the 4G LTE Network Extender is designed for self-installation, and uses Samsung's self-optimizing network technology to automatically learn its surroundings and adjust its coverage to improve user experience. The 4G LTE Network Extender also ensures seamless transition to Verizon's 4G LTE network if sufficient coverage overlap exists.
The 4G LTE extender will be available from Verizon on June 30 for $249.99.
With more than 35 years of experience in developing and commercializing telecom network technologies, Samsung's Networks Division has worked closely with mobile service providers around the world, helping them successfully implement advanced LTE solutions. Samsung's network solutions are globally recognized and successfully deployed in industry-leading countries like the U.S., Korea and Japan, allowing carriers to seamlessly integrate multiple communications protocols to create a unified customer experience.
