DALLAS, July 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced the availability of its newest inmate hardware, the sPhone(TM), that streamlines the installation of inmate terminals and drastically reduces jail interruptions.

Securus has been on the cutting edge of introducing new software solutions that enable new methods of communication, modernize jail operational processes and provide new investigative solutions to keep jail staff, the public and inmates safe. This innovation also expands to hardware solutions that enable great communication and self-help products.

The sPhone is the newest addition to the Securus hardware family and is the new standard for inmate kiosks and terminals. With its small form-factor and various installation and power options, it can be installed in a fraction of the time as traditional AC powered terminals.

"Securus continues to introduce new and unique solutions and we're excited to announce our latest inmate terminal hardware, the sPhone," said Russell Roberts, Vice President of Marketing & Strategy for Securus. "The sPhone is unique in that it does not require traditional AC power; instead it's powered using the existing copper pair that currently powers traditional inmate telephones. No other provider can deliver power to an inmate terminal a distance of 4,000 feet over existing copper wire. Jail staff no longer has to spend time escorting electricians around the jail, which will save our customers a tremendous amount of time."

The sPhone is powered by Securus' industry-leading inmate software platform, ConnectUs, offering a nearly unlimited number of communication, self-help and educational applications.
