Virtual Chef Arriving To A Kitchen Near You
FireBoard adds Amazon Alexa voice integration to its smart thermometer
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Whirling around the kitchen, keeping track of everything cooking can be a tall order, but a new voice assisted feature available through Amazon's Alexa platform makes cooking just a bit easier. Now you can ask "Alexa, ask FireBoard temperature" and receive a friendly audible update on the temperature of your food, either on the barbecue or in the oven.

The technology is made possible by pairing a Cloud Connected Smart Thermometer called the FireBoard, with a device enabled with Alexa voice recognition software. The FireBoard is a 6 channel, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth thermometer available via Kickstarter at a discounted price of $149.
Alexa enabled devices include the Amazon Echo, Dot, Tap and the Fire TV.
According to FireBoard founder Ted Conrad, adding voice integration to the FireBoard was a natural extension of FireBoard's existing software. "The main goal of the FireBoard is to make it easier to monitor temperature, and by adding Alexa skills, our users can now get temperature updates hands free."
FireBoard provides iOS, Android and web applications for users to check their realtime temperatures or receive alerts remotely, wherever internet is available. The FireBoard cloud based thermometer also serves as a data logger, keeping a history of previous cooking activity.
