Tektronix Introduces Floating License Option for MPEG Analyzers

Available as an Upgrade, New Licensing Model Gives Multiple Users in Remote Locations Access to Critical Analysis Tools for Faster Debug, Improves ROI

BEAVERTON, Ore., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix, Inc., an industry-leading innovator of video test and monitoring solutions, today announced a new floating license option for its MTS4000 MPEG Test System and MTS4SAV3 MPEG Transport Stream Analyzer. Available as an upgrade for existing customers, the new licensing model enables multiple users in remote locations to access critical analysis tools for faster debug and diagnosis of MPEG transport stream issues while also improving return on investment.

For large video service providers, it's important to give teams access to the tools they need to quickly troubleshoot problems in MPEG transport streams regardless of location or time of day. However, it can be cost prohibitive to give large teams with remote staff members a full license to tools that will be used infrequently. With the floating license model, users with a Tektronix MPEG analyzer installed can time share the software between teams and people to analyze and debug MPEG problems and take appropriate corrective measures.

"Floating licenses are a way for our customers to maximize their investment in our technologies and to speed up debug and diagnostics when there's a MPEG-related hiccup," said Charlie Dunn, general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix. "We also see this as way for our customers to increase collaboration across multiple sites and locations and use the right tool whenever and wherever it's needed."

The MTS4000 MPEG Test System provides comprehensive MPEG transport streams analysis and interoperability testing. Its deep analysis of the transport streams, PES, and elementary streams helps track down sources of picture anomalies and identify transport streams with syntax errors. It can also capture events for deep analysis to identify the root cause of problems.

The MTS4SAV3 Transport Stream Analyzer offers a broad (across multiple standards and video layers) and deep (in-depth of generation and analysis) solution for compressed video test. The MTS4SAV3 standalone software can be applied anywhere at any level, to diagnose and solve the most subtle, complex, and intermittent DTV problems in the minimum time. It includes a comprehensive suite of analysis tools including transport stream compliance, buffer, PES, compressed video and audio elementary stream analyzers, together with applications for stream creation and analysis.
