Wearable Pepper Spray, Waterproof Drones Among Inventions to be Featured Wednesday on Capitol Hill

Media members are invited to a Wednesday Capitol Hill expo and briefing, "Inventing Our Way to National Wealth." The event will provide an opportunity to speak with representatives from the government and inventor community. They will discuss their experiences developing and commercializing inventions, as well as the impact an effective patent system has on the U.S. economy.

Following the briefing, a number of technologies will be showcased. They include smartphone-aided footwear that adapts to a wearer's feet to prevent injury; self-healing electroplated aluminum that protect against surface corrosion; a breast cancer surgery recovery shirt; wearable pepper spray; a waterproof drone; a gesture-driven computer interface (like the Minority Report); and more.

Senate Inventions Caucus co-chairs Sens. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) & Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) are scheduled to attend. They will be joined by Congressional Inventions Caucus co-chairs Reps. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and Bill Foster (D-Ill.).
