Electronic Cigarettes Continue to Experience Popularity Growth
The products known as electronic cigarettes are still experiencing large amounts of popularity growth in the United States since they were introduced to the country in 2006.
GAINESVILLE, Fla., March 16 -- The new face of tobacco smoking has now become vaping due to the increasing popularity of the electronic cigarette. This product was so revolutionary that even pharmaceutical industry reports stated that "e-cigarettes will revolutionize the face of tobacco smoking and could pose a threat to the smoking cessation market."
Even public health officials that have been in the anti-tobacco movement for over 25 years are singing praises to this new product, stating that this could be the product that could change the way people look at tobacco for the rest of time.
Joel Niztkin, Chair of the Tobacco Control Task Force for the American Association of Public Health Physicians, went as far as to say this: "We have every reason to believe the hazard posed by electronic cigarettes would be much lower than 1% than that posed by tobacco cigarettes. The testing guidelines in the current tobacco act would represent a ban on electronic cigarettes. Yet, if we get all tobacco smokers to switch from regular cigarettes to electronic cigarettes, we would eventually reduce the US death toll from more than 400,000 a year to less than 4,000, maybe as low as 400."
With industry experts making such bold statements about the electronic cigarette, is it any wonder that its popularity among smokers and support from non-smokers alike has skyrocketed the sales of this new product while removing the stigma and guilt that smokers have been carrying around for decades? Since the truth has come out concerning the harm that cigarettes create for both the smoker and bystanders that are affected by secondhand and sidestream smoke, smokers now have an alternative that is acceptable across the board.
