ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 23 -- Avineon, Inc. (http://www.avineon.com), a successful provider of IT, geospatial, engineering and program management services, announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded the company the Electronic FAA Accelerated and Simplified Tasks (eFAST) contract. Under the contract, Avineon will provide air transportation support, engineering services, information systems development, and computer systems support. The seven-year contract has a five-year base period with two one-year options and a ceiling value of $2 billion.
The eFAST master ordering agreement (MOA) enables access by FAA personnel to pre-qualified small businesses that provide comprehensive management, engineering, and technical support services. The eFAST award will enable Avineon to expand its aviation offerings, which include nearly 15 years experience with the Naval Flight Information Group (NAVFIG). As part of its experience with NAVFIG, Avineon develops, reviews, analyzes and automates flight procedures to meet FAA, Department of Defense and U.S. Navy standards while improving communications among U.S. military forces and the FAA. Avineon also supports the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC), where the company provides optimized meteorological and oceanographic data with geospatially enabled tools, automated data sharing with coalition forces, and advanced visualization of particulate matter movement to assist tactical, operational and strategic planning.
"Our experience with multiple federal agencies involved in such areas as flight planning, weather impacts on aviation, and related areas has resulted in an in-depth knowledge of the aviation community's technical requirements and business drivers needed to ensure we deliver outstanding results," said Hee Sun Choung, Avineon's senior vice president of federal systems. "We look forward to working closely with the FAA through the eFAST program."
Avineon also anticipates its work with many other civilian and defense agencies will play a large role in supporting the FAA's initiatives under the eFAST program.
