Jabra Launches Mobile Developer Program; Embraces Leading Developers & Premier Mobile Hands-Free Applications

Jabra Enhances Hands-Free End User Experience for Voice-Enabled Speech-to-Text Mobile, Music and Entertainment Applications with Jabra Headsets; Announces Call for New Developers to Sign on

LAS VEGAS, March 23 -- GN Netcom, the world leader in innovative headset and speakerphone solutions, today announced the Jabra Mobile Developer Program designed for developers who are currently producing voice-enabled and other audible applications.  The new Mobile Developer Program aims to attract leading creative developers and provide them with cutting-edge Jabra technology and resources needed to create innovative, mobile hands-free, voice-enabled applications.  The program will be kicked off at the Jabra Mobile Developer Breakfast, and The Jabra Mobile Experience portal (http://www.jabra.com/apps/) will be launched for the first time this week at CTIA Wireless 2010.

"Bluetooth® hands-free devices are becoming an integral way for consumers to use mobile phones.  Any developer that produces voice-enabled applications needs to take this technology into consideration to remain competitive and desirable," said Jonas Forsberg, General Manager North America, Mobile Division, GN Netcom, Inc.  "Bluetooth technology is new to many developers and we want to assist them in adding Bluetooth hands-free capabilities to their applications. Jabra hands-free products are the front end tool driving these new compelling voice-enabled applications for users to move seamlessly through their day in a hands-free manner."

The Mobile Developer Program, launching with over 15 members and growing daily, is being offered free of charge to qualified applicants.  To be eligible for membership, a company must be an active developer with at least one qualifying commercially available mobile application.  Additionally, qualifying applications must be Bluetooth-enabled and have audible and voice-enabled components, or have a desire to learn how to develop this technology into their applications.

For the consumer, the new Jabra Mobile Experience portal directs users to the best voice-enabled speech-to-text mobile, music and entertainment applications for their headset.  This portal provides users with wide variety to choose from when it comes to finding their ideal applications for work and play.  The expanding list of premier mobile apps currently available for download includes:  Vlingo, Voice on the Go, HulloMail, slydial Voice Messaging, MotionApps, SlackerRadio, MyCaption, d2u Transcriber, mVoice Productivity, VoiceBox Dialer with Bluetooth and Traffic, Jabra Skipping Stone, Voicebox Technologies, Inc., Talkhouse, Grooveshark, and EasyDialer 2.7.

"Mobile-phone design is changing from a hardware-centric user interface with limited functionality to a software-centric interface with unlimited functionality due the widespread high speed 3G/4G and WiFi-enabled networks," said Andrew Seybold, principal analyst for Andrew Seybold, Inc.  "While the keyboard is critical to fast texting, voice-recognition and voice enabled applications allow you to compose a text message by talking into the phone and letting the software do the transcription is more practical and accurate than ever. The pairing of the excellent Multipoint, noise cancelling Bluetooth Jabra products enables these applications to become a hands-free reality."

For mobile developers, the new program offers crucial resources to developing their business and skills and staying at the forefront of the Bluetooth headset and speakerphone industry.  Resources and incentives include a featured listing on the Jabra Mobile Experience website, marketing support and integration with Jabra's global marketing plans, access to Jabra technical experts, and direct exposure to Jabra's wireless carrier and retail distribution partners.  The portal will also serve as a community for mobile developer's APIs to share and enhance the current applications.
