HealthiNation Introduces 'Health Insights' Series Available Online and on Video on Demand

Series Debuts in Recognition of Diabetes Alert Day Featuring Dr. Derek LeRoith, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Former Chief of the Diabetes Branch at the National Institutes of Health

NEW YORK, March 23 -- HealthiNation, the premier health video company, today announced the launch of its latest video series: "Health Insights."  The new series is now available to viewers across HealthiNation's video network online and on cable video on demand.

The "Health Insights" series (available at http://www.healthination.com/Videos/Health-Insights-Diabetes) complements HealthiNation's core education-based programming by providing a deeper look at a particular condition featuring top medical experts from around the country.  The series is designed for people who may be recently diagnosed with a condition or know a friend or loved one currently managing a condition.  In conjunction with the 22nd Annual American Diabetes Association Alert Day, the series debuts with a closer look at Diabetes, featuring  Dr. Derek LeRoith, Chief of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease Development at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and former Chief of the Diabetes Branch at the National Institutes of Health.

"The concept for 'Health Insights' centers on the idea that if you could get time with an expert on a certain condition, what would you ask?" said Dr. Holly Atkinson, Chief Medical Officer, HealthiNation.  "Our focus has always been on educating and inspiring our viewers to make healthier choices. "With 'Health Insights' we are excited to take it a step further by giving them this unprecedented access to medical professionals."

According to the American Diabetes Association, 57 million Americans are at risk for Type 2 diabetes.  As part of Diabetes Alert Day, the ADA is encouraging people to find out if they are at risk by taking the risk assessment test, available at http://www.StopDiabetes.Com.  Comcast Spotlight is also doing a full day promotion through interactive program guide banners.

"At Mount Sinai, we encourage patients to take an active role in their health and the more we can contribute to that effort the better off we all are," said Dr. LeRoith. "Patients can be overwhelmed by their diagnosis and not know what questions to ask. I believe this type of proactive and in-depth education will further help patients take control of their lives as they make critical decisions about their future and well being."

As part of the ongoing series, viewers will be encouraged to submit questions for new episodes on important topics through Facebook (http://www.Facebook.com/HealthiNation) and Twitter  (http://www.Twitter.com/HealthiNation). The next series will focus on overactive bladder and questions are currently being requested for an upcoming series focus on asthma.
