NIEUWEGEIN and WAARDENBURG, The Netherlands, March 24, 2010--
- Teleena Launches First Operator VastMobiel on Unused GSM Frequency
Customers using mobile telephony by VastMobiel are among the first to use
the recently liberalised DECT Guard Band, a frequency between GSM and DECT.
By using Teleena's so called picocell, a private indoor network is created
for small and midsized companies, hospitals or offices, that reduces costs by
20 or 30 percent and offers better indoor coverage.
Picocells are small private GSM cells, similar to WiFi, which make indoor
mobile calls, text messages and the use of internet possible. When the
customer leaves the building or the office, his mobile phone with Teleena SIM
switches back automatically to the national public network and vice versa.
The picocells allow the use of the DECT Guard Band frequency, which was
opened up for public use by the Dutch government last year and which can be
used for small private GSM networks.
From now on new Teleena customer VastMobiel offers companies the
opportunity to benefit from this new development. Companies can reduce their
telecom cost and improve their indoor coverage. Outside the office they can
use Teleena's core network, which is connected with one of the mayor public
mobile networks.
Over fifty Dutch companies already have their own branded SIM-cards for
private use or to sell to their customers. Teleena expects their number to
grow in the coming years. Also it expects to introduce this solution in
several European countries when they also liberalise this frequency.
Teleena develops custom made solutions that are innovative and flexible
for the so-called mobile virtual operators (MVNO's). Teleena has connected
its network to the Vodafone radio network which guarantees high quality.
Earlier Teleena introduced a two-country SIM for the PTT of Suriname:
Telesur. On this SIM card the Netherlands and Suriname are technically united
as a single market for mobile telephony: the customer has an account, a
mailbox and one rate for both Suriname and the Netherlands and can be called
through his mobile number in The Netherlands and Suriname. Recently
supermarket chain DekaMarkt became a Teleena customer for whom Teleena
introduced a unique integrated loyalty solution: customers collect free
minutes when shopping at DekaMarkt.
