Paradigm Telecom, Inc. Helps Verizon Wireless Build the First 4G LTE Network in the Country by Providing Network Solutions in the South
LAS VEGAS; PENSACOLA, Fla.; and BASKING RIDGE, N.J., March 24 -- From CTIA WIRELESS 2010®, Paradigm Telecom, Inc. and Verizon Wireless announced today that Verizon Wireless will deploy Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and 802.1Q standards across custom-designed, proprietary fiber networks as Verizon Wireless builds the nation's first 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network.
Paradigm Telecom was one of the first companies to provide Verizon Wireless with Fiber-To-The-Cell (FTTC) starting in 2004 along the Gulf Coast and Florida Panhandle. Since that time, the Verizon Wireless and Paradigm Telecom relationship has extended with Paradigm Telecom providing facilities and network solutions to Verizon Wireless in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.
Now, with Verizon Wireless poised to become the nation's first 4G LTE network provider, Paradigm Telecom is providing Verizon Wireless with customized network solutions to meet increasing bandwidth demands in the wireless industry. Paradigm Telecom delivers proprietary All IP-MPLS Ethernet or EOS Backhaul Networks for Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network. The diverse, fiber-optic, scalable Layer 2 Carrier-Class Ethernet Network solutions link the cell site to the Mobile Switching Center (MSC).
Karen Toth, chief executive officer for Paradigm Telecom, stated, "Over the past nine years, Paradigm Telecom has always strived to provide Verizon Wireless with the most advanced, high-speed, fiber-optic networks available while keeping in mind that the networks that we deploy must convert as easily as possible to the ever-changing network needs of Verizon Wireless' customer base, creation of new and innovative technologies, and equipment deployment. Paradigm Telecom is pleased to be on the forefront of technology, providing Verizon Wireless the network infrastructure to be the global leader in 4G deployment and the nation's first 4G LTE wireless network provider."
Nicola Palmer, Verizon Wireless network vice president, said, "We expect Verizon Wireless customers in the South will be well-served with a great 4G LTE network because of the work Paradigm is doing today."
Verizon Wireless' LTE rollout plan positions the company as a global leader in 4G LTE deployment, and it is on track to deliver the nation's first 4G LTE network to customers in 25 to 30 markets, covering roughly 100 million people by year's end. Verizon Wireless has been conducting trials in Boston and Seattle since August 2009 that have indicated that the network is capable of peak download speeds of 40 to 50 megabits per second (Mbps), peak upload speeds of 20 to 25 Mbps, and average data rates of 5 to 12 Mbps on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink in real-world environments. The speeds are significantly faster than Verizon Wireless and other wireless providers' current or promised 3G network speeds.
By leveraging its 700 MHz spectrum for LTE deployment in the United States, Verizon Wireless is capable of quickly deploying a high-quality wireless broadband network with excellent coverage and in-building penetration. Verizon Wireless is currently installing LTE equipment at existing cell sites and switching centers around the United States as part of its extensive, ongoing investment in its voice and data network infrastructure.
