China GrenTech Selected to Be Exclusive WLAN Provider for World Expo 2010 Shanghai China
SHENZHEN, China, March 26 -- China GrenTech Corporation Limited (Nasdaq: GRRF, "the Company", or "GrenTech"), a leading China-based provider of radio frequency ("RF") and wireless coverage products and services, today announced that in preparation for the communication network deployment for World Expo 2010 Shanghai, China ("Expo"), GrenTech has been selected by China Mobile as the Expo's exclusive wireless local area network ("WLAN") service provider. The Company will provide services that include equipment deployment, installation and testing. In addition, GrenTech is selected by China Telecom to build the Trans European Trunked Radio (TETRA) and WLAN system for the China Pavilion, the landmark of the Expo site.
Mr. Yingjie Gao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, "We are very pleased to be the exclusive WLAN service provider selected by China Mobile for the Expo, another landmark event hosted by China following the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. When the Expo begins on May 1, 2010, we expect high traffic volume from wireless users in the numerous pavilions, and we will provide top quality and reliable communication access and services for Expo attendees. Our selection as the exclusive WLAN provider by China Mobile is another strong demonstration that GrenTech is best positioned to provide such services, as we leverage our high-quality products and long-standing and proven service track record. We plan to install more than 2,000 WLAN access points to fully cover the Expo's grounds. In addition, we will deploy a technical service team comprised of many wireless coverage experts from our branch offices, including Shanghai, Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou, Anhui, Shanxi, Xinjiang and Henan, in order to guarantee high-quality service for the Expo."
