Cox Hosts E-Waste Recycling Events in Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia and Roanoke with Partner Synergy Recycling

~In Roanoke and Hampton Roads, businesses also may recycle free-of-charge, via appointment-based collections~

CHESAPEAKE, Va., April 1 -- Cox Communications is hosting electronics or e-waste recycling events on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at varied locations around the state. Cox is hosting these events in partnership with recycling contractor Synergy Recycling.

  Events will be held as follows:

  Hampton Roads:           April 24, 2010
                           Greenbrier Mall, Chesapeake
                           8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  Northern Virginia:       April 24, 2010
                           George Mason University, Lot K, Fairfax
                           9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  Roanoke:                 April 24, 2010
                           Roanoke Civic Center
                           8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"The overall goal of our environmental conservation movement is to further reduce Cox's annual carbon footprint by 20% by 2017. That's no small order but we are committed to do those things that preserve and protect our environment," says Gary McCollum, Senior Vice President and General Manager Cox Virginia.

All electronic items are accepted for this event. The list of items accepted includes, but is not limited to:

  --  Monitors (CRT and LCD based)
  --  Computer mice, printers, cable, modems
  --  Speakers, scanners, and other electronic peripherals
  --  Networking hardware
  --  Fax machines, answering machines
  --  Copy machines
  --  Power tools
  --  Televisions, VCRs, CD players, DVD players, remote controls
  --  Audio visual equipment
  --  iPods, MP3 players, computer games
  --  Microwaves and other small kitchen appliances
  --  Cell phones, telephones, radios, CB radios, stereos
  --  Calculators
  --  As well as most other electronic items
