LOS ALTOS, Calif., April 2 -- Days of Wonder today announced its Small World(TM) App for iPad, one of the first interactive board games designed specifically for iPad. Small World is an award-winning fantasy game where two players vie for conquest and control of a world that is simply too small to accommodate all of the zany characters such as dwarves, wizards, amazons, giants, orcs and even humans that inhabit it. Sitting across from each other around the iPad, players use their troops to occupy territory and conquer adjacent lands in order to push the other players' races off the face of the earth.
The Small World App for iPad uses iPad's innovative Multi-Touch interface and large screen to provide a tabletop virtual board game with touch control of the game elements. Users can intuitively move their fantasy forces across the game map as they conquer new lands, while the app automatically enforces the proper movement rules and the strengths and weaknesses unique to each troop.
"The iPad is the first truly intimate interactive device we have ever seen," said Days of Wonder CEO, Eric Hautemont. "For the first time, two players can sit across a table from each other and share a magical moment of gaming with a face-to-face playing experience that has had no previous equivalent in the digital world. The world of board games and digital gaming will never be the same."
Days of Wonder publishes top-quality, family-oriented digital and physical board games that are easy to learn and fun to play. Days of Wonder has offices in the US and Europe, and distribution in 25 countries. To date, the company has sold over 2 million board games and hosted close to 20 million games online. In June 2004, Days of Wonder became the youngest publisher ever to win Germany's prestigious Spiel des Jahres, the world's most coveted game prize.
