Supermicro Delivers Platinum Level Servers
2U, 3U, 4U/Tower Servers with Industry-leading 94%+ Power Efficiency
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 8 -- Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ:SMCI), a global leader in application-optimized server solutions, announced that its new line of 94%+ Platinum Level power efficiency server solutions are in volume production. These solutions feature Supermicro's 920-watt power supply, which has achieved Platinum certification, the highest certification possible, from the 80PLUS® organization. These new SuperServers and SuperChassis also employ Supermicro's advanced cooling subsystems to deliver maximum performance-per-watt.

"While more and more high-efficiency servers today use Silver or Gold level power supplies, Supermicro continues to raise the computing efficiency standard to Platinum level, which saves customers more money and contributes to a greener earth," said Charles Liang, CEO and president of Supermicro. "Addressing the primary challenges facing datacenters today, these servers also help IT managers reduce data center cooling costs, improve the cost-effectiveness of server deployments, and reduce the typical TCO up to $300 per system during its lifetime."
Available in 2U, 3U and 4U convertible tower form factors, Supermicro's Platinum Level SuperServers are packed with the industry's most advanced feature sets. While the 94%+ Platinum-level power supplies with PMBus come standard on these new systems, Supermicro also provides the ultimate in storage and networking flexibility with its Universal I/O (UIO) interface on the 2U SuperServers 6026T-URF4+ and 2026T-URF4+. UIO empowers customers to choose from an extensive selection of Supermicro I/O cards including 6Gbps SAS, 10GbE, FibreChannel and QDR/DDR InfiniBand subsystems. These 2U servers feature redundant power, four GbE ports, and 18 DIMMs for up to 192GB of ECC registered DDR3 memory. While the 6026T-URF4+ supports eight 3.5" hot-swap SAS/SATA hard drives, the 2026T-URF4+ supports sixteen 2.5" hot-swap drives.
In addition to the 2U models, Supermicro offers the 3U SuperServer 6036T-6RF and 4U/tower SuperServer 7046T-6F. Like their 2U counterparts, these servers also support up to 192GB of memory and onboard IPMI 2.0 management with remote media and KVM-over-LAN. Moreover, these servers both feature onboard 6Gbps SAS controllers to support up to eight 3.5" hot-swap SAS2 hard drives, offering enhanced I/O performance and reliability.
Supermicro's new server solutions support the entire range of new six-core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5600/3600 Series, including the highest performance 130-watt SKUs. When loaded with the latest Intel® Xeon® Processor 5600/3600 Series (codenamed Westmere), these servers boost performance 60% compared to the previous generation of Nehalem solutions. Consistent with the company's commitment to green computing, these solutions support low-voltage 1.35V DDR3 memory modules as well as standard 1.5V modules.
Today's launch also includes ten new SuperChassis powered by Supermicro's 920-watt power supply. Eight of these are 2U chassis. Four of the 2U models support up to four UIO and standard full-height, full-length add-on cards plus three low-profile ones, and the other four models support up to seven low-profile add-on cards. The SC219 and SC216 series support 2.5" hot-swap hard drives, and the SC829 series support up to eight 3.5" hot-swap drives. The new SC835TQ-R920B chassis supports up to seven full-height, full-length add-on cards and features 100% cooling redundancy. Even if a key fan fails, the system will continue operating without any decrease in performance. The SC745TQ-920B combines the same features as the SC835 into a tool-less design that can support high-performance GPUs.
