EE Times Group's ESC Silicon Valley Event Keynotes Draw Standing-Room Only Crowds
Nearly 2,000 Embedded Developers, Business Leaders, Industry Analysts and Journalists Attend Event's First Two Electronics Keynote and Industry Addresses
SAN FRANCISCO, April 29 -- EE Times Group, a UBM company and the daily source of essential business and technology news, analysis and intelligence for the electronics industry's decision makers, today announced that the opening keynote addresses at ESC Silicon Valley 2010, delivered by famed futurist Dr. Michio Kaku, and Kevin Dallas, general manager of the Windows Embedded Business Unit at Microsoft, attracted standing-room only crowds of nearly 2,000 registered event attendees.
In his "Challenges for the Next 20 Years" keynote address, Dr. Kaku imparted his vision for the 21st century where electronics innovation makes popular science fiction themes a reality, particularly for medical applications. Comparing fictional devices such as Star Trek's "tricorder" handheld body scanner with near-future electronics industry innovations, Dr. Kaku applauded today's embedded electronics designers for creating systems that revolutionize and improve daily life.
During his industry address, Mr. Dallas unveiled Microsoft's Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating system that "pushes the boundaries of embedded computing in the areas of retail, industrial automation, medical systems and home entertainment." The Windows Media Center feature allows electronic systems developers to "create differentiated experiences and enhanced connectivity" with Windows-based PCs, servers and specialized devices, such as set-top boxes (STBs), connected media devices (CMDs), and TVs for consumers.
"Tuesday's inspiring keynotes were an excellent way to kick off ESC Silicon Valley 2010 where visionaries and leading innovators have converged to celebrate the continued recovery of the global electronics industry," said David Blaza, vice president of Events and Embedded Systems, EE Times Group. "There is a special energy and excitement at this year's event that can be attributed to the many companies who are unveiling or showcasing remarkable products and technologies here."
ESC Silicon Valley 2010 continues through April 29th at the McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, California.
