Lay's Happiness Exhibit Celebrates Moms by Spreading Simple Happiness
Free Video Upload Tool Allows Consumers to Create a Personalized Card for Mother's Day
PLANO, Texas, May 4 -- In honor of Mother's Day, Lay's, America's favorite potato chip, expanded its online "Happiness Exhibit," to help set simple happiness in motion. Beginning today, people can visit the exhibit at http://www.lays.com to create a one-of-a-kind Mother's Day video greeting card. For a quick, easy and free gift that mom will adore, consumers can upload pictures and captions, then add a background and music to create their own customized videos.
Lay's, a brand of PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division, is celebrating simple happiness across America with a growing collage of more than 15,000 photos submitted by consumers. From this online exhibit, select photos will also be chosen to be featured on millions of Lay's potato chip bags sold nationwide, and in commemorative ads in upcoming issues of PEOPLE magazine.
Pictures to be considered for the Lay's bags can be uploaded now until May 31, 2010. A special Mother's Day ad will be featured in the May 17th issue of PEOPLE magazine and photos for an American Summer-themed ad will be running in the May 31st issue. In addition, visitors to the exhibit can also interact with fun applications such as Smile-O-Grams, video e-cards and wallpapers.
"With Mother's Day just around the corner, we're excited to help honor all moms through the Lay's Happiness Exhibit by highlighting simple, happy moments," explains Ram Krishnan, director, marketing, Frito-Lay North America. "We know that people truly treasure making happy moments last through photography. Whether they are old photos or new ones, moms always appreciate the memories."
To help kick-off the "Happiness Exhibit," a Lay's "Simple Happiness" truck traveled around New York City on National Potato Chip Day (Sunday, March 14) delivering 10,000 free bags of Lay's potato chips to New Yorkers at iconic locations including Times Square, Herald Square, Bryant Park and Central Park.
The Lay's brand began a repositioning in early 2009 that introduced a new theme line, "Happiness is Simple," designed to uniquely celebrate the brand, its place in people's lives and its role in bringing people together for life's simple pleasures. The campaign highlights the simplicity of Lay's potato chips at a time when consumers are looking for simplicity. The foundation message, "Happiness is Simple," also echoes the simplicity of the ingredients in each serving of Lay's Classic potato chips - just potatoes, all-natural oil and a dash of salt.
