OpenMarket Expands Cross-Network Multimedia Message Service (MMS)

Expansion Enables Businesses to Reach Hundreds of Millions of U.S. Wireless Subscribers via Rich Media

SEATTLE, May 11 -- OpenMarket, a business unit of Amdocs operating a leading mobile transaction hub, today announced that it has further expanded its leading multimedia message service (MMS) connectivity for advertisers, mobile marketers and merchants that deliver rich media to mobile devices.  OpenMarket is now an approved MMS aggregator for third-party digital content delivered over the AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Alltel and Cricket Communications networks.

"MMS is one of the most effective ways for companies to communicate their brand message and connect emotionally with the consumer at the same time," said James Citron, chief executive officer of Mogreet, a mobile marketing platform that enables businesses to send rich media via MMS. "In our business, great delivery is everything.  We look to OpenMarket as that experienced mobile solution partner for broad subscriber access and superior network stability."

MMS enables users to send and receive short videos, photos, images, song clips, home movies, animated video and other similar rich media on their mobile devices.  Brands and advertisers can deliver customized personal messages to consumers in a manner currently available only on television networks or specialized mobile applications.  According to the CTIA, more than 10 billion MMS messages were sent in the first half of 2009, and nearly every phone shipped in the United States from U.S. operators since 2008 was MMS capable.  Based on high performance architecture with standard-based integration, OpenMarket's mobile transaction network supports the most MMS connections in the industry today.

"MMS usage by consumers is growing every month as new applications and consumer services are launched into the market," said Jay Emmet, general manager of OpenMarket.  "OpenMarket provides agencies, brands, social networks and third-party merchants with the ability to deliver advanced mobile content and a personalized user experience."
