Serial Addiction, Ti 4400 from Leadtek
From a stock speed of 275/400Mhz (core/memory respectively) we were able to take the card to an amazing speed of 334/688 core/mem. That's faster than a Ti4600 people I would have to attribute the cards heatsink to this huge overclock as the memory is only rated to 275Mhz (550DDR)
PC Rivals, Shuttle SV24
The Shuttle FSYS-SV24 comes in a box that doubles very nicely as a carrier. I don't know about most people, but one big reason why I would get a system this small is so that it will be portable, and its sturdy box definitely helps out. In the box, you'll find your standard stuff -- the manual and driver disks, IDE and power cables, and assorted screws. With this system, you also receive a PCI elbow adapter, and a low profile CPU heatsink.
tBreak, Asus P4T533
I think RDRAM and P4 are made for each other- both of them boast the highest clock speeds in their relevant markets and yet, the perform marginally better than their competitors. The recently released DDR-333 runs at 333MHz and coupled with the SiS 645DX chipset seems to match RDRAM that runs at 800MHz. The P4 is in the same boat as well. Thus, both of these products increase their clock speeds to keep ahead of the competition. Recently, Intel increased the FSB on the P4 CPUs from 100MHz FSB to 133MHz FSB and to accommodate these newer CPUs, they're releasing the 850E chipset with RDRAM support and the 845E chipset for DDR.
Bjorn3d, Radeon 8500LE from Herc
This is, happily, my first foray into ATIs world since the Rage chipset. I was extremely excited to test this product as there is a lot of buzz on the net about happy Radeon users. Given the street pricing of Hercules 3DProphet FDX 8500 LE cards (~$150), it certainly appeals to my Bang-for-the-Buck theory of 3D accelerators Especially since this chipset includes DirectX8.1 support in hardware and something else Ive actually missed since my S3 days: Environmental Bump Mapping. Unfortunately for ATI, there is also a lot of buzz around the net about driver failings. Ive never been able to take a stance on the subject of buggy drivers since Ive never used a Radeon equipped video card until now. In this review, Ill look at both 2D and 3D performance of the Hercules 3DProphet FDX 8500 LE 64MB AGP video card utilizing the ATI Radeon 8500 video processing unit.
Overclocks AU, Tbred and Vapochill
The long awaited Athlon CPU based on the Thoroughbred core, or Tbred to its mates, has finally arrived. Well, at least some 1900+ Engineering samples have, and yours truly had the opportunity to play with them. In this preview I will not go into the theory behind AMD's new 0.13-micron manufacturing process, as there are many others considerably well versed to provide this information.
