Human Services Federation and Cost Effective Technologies Form Strategic Alliance in the Cloud
Embarking on a Capacity-Building Mission to Bring the Benefits of Cloud Computing to the Nonprofit Sector
LINCOLN, Neb., May 17 -- Human Services Federation (HSF) and Cost Effective Technologies (CET), a subsidiary of Nelnet, today announced the formation of a strategic alliance to launch a unified information technology (IT) platform for nonprofit organizations. The alliance will offer a comprehensive package of IT services--including CET's innovative cloud computing platform--that is designed to put better tools in the hands of nonprofit organizations, allowing them to save significantly on IT-related costs.
"This alliance offers nonprofit organizations a valuable tool that allows them to better provide efficient, effective, and accountable solutions and service to our community," said Rick Carter, Executive Director of HSF. "CET's solution is built for the future, not the past. It not only provides enterprise-level support for existing computer networks, but--unlike any other organization--it also provides a forward-looking cloud computing platform that finally places an astonishing array of technology tools within reach of nonprofit organizations. It is simply a better IT solution than traditional IT service providers are able to offer."
CET is the nation's premier provider of private, secure, and affordable web-based computing platforms for small and mid-sized organizations. Its affordable and easy-to-use platform is stocked with a comprehensive suite of business applications that are accessed over the Internet. This flexible and efficient solution not only houses a wide array of computing tools, but it also reduces the need for expensive hardware, software, installation, and support.
Nonprofit organizations that typically have limited capital, space, and technical staff can benefit financially and environmentally by using cloud computing. It saves energy, reduces the amount of hardware needed, and is easier to deploy and maintain than in-house applications. Most importantly, it puts better tools in the hands of organizations so they can ultimately be more effective in the pursuit of their missions.
"Like any other type of business, nonprofits need to have access to technology tools that can further their strategic objectives. As a nonprofit member organization, HSF has shown outstanding leadership in providing this and other valued services to the nonprofit community," said Hannah Smitterberg, co-founder of CET. "There is no doubt in my mind that this alliance will lead to better collaboration in the nonprofit community and will help nonprofit organizations operate more efficiently and achieve more effective results."
The alliance will immediately focus on introducing the platform in the greater Lincoln and Omaha areas, with regional and national outreach efforts to begin shortly thereafter.
