Motorola Broadens Digital Imager Portfolio to Meet the Challenging Data Capture Needs of the Enterprise
Scanners deliver new levels of productivity across a wide variety of industries
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., June 2 -- The Enterprise Mobility Solutions division of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) today introduced new advanced data capture solutions designed to streamline and error-proof everyday processes across multiple industries. Motorola's new DS6878 cordless imager series and DS6707-HC healthcare-specific handheld imager help enterprises increase operational efficiencies and reduce errors with revolutionary scanning performance for improved quality of customer and patient care.
"With our deep heritage in advanced data capture technologies, Motorola continues to expand its portfolio of solutions to meet the specific needs of customers across vertical markets," said Al Quinn, vice president and general manager of advanced data capture, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions. "Understanding that enterprise customer needs are different and continually evolving, Motorola is committed to delivering solutions that address customer pain points, empowering workers to transform the enterprise."
DS6878 Series breaks innovation barriers to improve productivity and transaction speed
As premium products in Motorola's general-purpose scanning portfolio, the DS6878 cordless imager series, including the DS6878-SR and DS6878-DL, are built on Motorola's revolutionary SE4500 scan engine for rapid data capture performance. The DS6878 series includes Bluetooth® technology for cordless scanning freedom across multiple environments such as at the point of sale (POS), returns desk, entrance gate or check-in counter, and comes in two models:
-- DS6878-SR: This general-purpose cordless imager can capture all common
bar codes, including 1-D, 2-D and PDF417, on labels and mobile phone
displays. When paired with the hands-free presentation cradle, it can
also capture and transfer images, documents and signatures. This model
is ideal for POS purchase transactions, mobile loyalty and couponing
programs, electronic record-keeping, event-ticket tracking and airline
boarding-gate ticket verification.
-- DS6878-DL: This model offers all the features and functionality of the
DS6878-SR with the addition of a parsing agent to read United States
drivers licenses. This device enables processing of applications for
age verification, returns monitoring and auto-population of credit and
loyalty card applications.
Other advanced features include optical character recognition (OCR) functionality to capture actual text in documents, as well as magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) technology to capture the numeric information on the bottom of checks to turn paper checks into electronic debit transactions. The DS6878 series is also IP43 sealed and includes omni-directional and superior motion tolerance for improved scanning performance on virtually any type of bar code, even poor quality and damaged bar codes.
Motorola DS6707-HC redefines patient care
The DS6707-HC imager is specifically designed for hospitals and clinics to automate data capture at the point of care to reduce errors in medication administration, specimen collection, patient admission and dietary management. This multi-use imager combines the functionality of a 1-D and 2-D bar code scanner, digital camera and document scanner in a single device. This reduces capital and operating expenses by eliminating the purchase, management and support of multiple devices in a healthcare environment. As a result, the DS6707-HC offers the scanning flexibility caregivers need to capture virtually any bar code, image, signature and document.
With best-in-class drop specifications and a hygienic design, the DS6707-HC can withstand the rigors of almost any healthcare environment. The scanner housing is disinfectant-ready, so caregivers can easily wipe down and sanitize the device - without harming the housing - to ensure that germs are not spread across a healthcare environment and to patients. The DS6707-HC also includes a unique aiming pattern to ensure the intended product bar code is captured properly. In addition, the DS6707-HC charging cradle conveniently mounts to medical carts providing additional flexibility to caregivers. The DS6707-HC complements the previously announced DS6878-HC cordless imager, providing a choice of devices to meet the versatile needs of demanding healthcare environments.
The DS6878 cordless imager series and DS6707-HC handheld imager are supported by Motorola's Remote Scanner Management (RSM), enabling enterprise IT organizations to configure, deploy, provision and manage fleets of imagers across facilities from a centralized remote location.
The DS6878 cordless imager series and DS6707-HC are currently available through Motorola and Motorola partners.
