Attunity Extends its PowerConnector Series to Microsoft PowerPivot, Introducing the Attunity PowerPivot Connector for Oracle
Empowers users of PowerPivot, the popular new technology released with Microsoft SQL Server® 2008 R2, to access their heterogeneous data
BURLINGTON, Mass., June 7 -- Attunity Ltd. (OTC Bulletin Board: ATTUF), a leading provider of real-time data integration and event capture software, introduced today at the Microsoft Business Intelligence Conference 2010 in New Orleans, the new Attunity PowerPivot Connector for Oracle, a dedicated and optimized solution for making Oracle data available in Microsoft PowerPivot. In addition, Attunity announced the availability of additional certified connectors that enable PowerPivot users to access data from many heterogeneous sources.
An innovative technology in the large Business Intelligence market and one of the most popular new technologies released with Microsoft SQL Server® 2008 R2, PowerPivot empowers business users to create managed self-service BI solutions without relying on IT resources. To capitalize on PowerPivot's ability to handle millions of rows of data from a variety of sources, users need seamless, scalable, and fast connectivity, primarily to common data sources such as Oracle.
To that end, Attunity now introduces the Attunity PowerPivot Connector for Oracle, delivering affordable and optimized software for loading large volumes of Oracle data into PowerPivot. Uniquely designed for PowerPivot, the connector delivers a simplified and integrated user experience as well as specific performance optimizations proven in lab benchmarks to consistently perform even 50% faster than other common connectors, all in a self-contained installation with minimal dependency on additional client software components. Going forward, the connector will be part of the Attunity PowerConnector Series, which also includes the Attunity high-speed connectors for Oracle and Teradata that Microsoft chose to include with SQL Server 2008 Integration Services (SSIS). Now generally available, PowerPivot customers can download a free trial of the connector on the Attunity website.
Furthermore, having provided a suite of database connectors for many years through its Attunity Connect product line, Attunity has certified its proven OLEDB-based connectors to ensure their seamless support for PowerPivot. Using these connectors, mid-sized and large companies can now access data across a wide range of data sources, relational and non-relational, on platforms including Microsoft Windows, UNIX, OpenVMS, HP NonStop, IBM iSeries, and IBM Mainframe.
"Microsoft PowerPivot enables end users to quickly and easily work with enormous quantities of data from multiple data sources. And, IT professionals can govern where data comes from and how it gets accessed. The Attunity PowerPivot Connector for Oracle complements this by enabling high performance access to Oracle data," said Tom Casey, general manager of SQL Server Business Intelligence at Microsoft Corp. "We value our close relationship with Attunity and its product suite focusing on high performance, easy-to-use connectivity complements well our approach to bringing BI to users in familiar and natural ways including via Microsoft SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel."
"PowerPivot represents a significant opportunity for many customers to make the most of their data, which resides across many sources, especially the large market of Oracle users," said Shimon Alon, Chairman and CEO of Attunity. "We continue to focus on and support the Microsoft community with high-performance and easy-to-use products for accessing heterogeneous data in real-time and strengthening our position as Microsoft's trusted partner for connectivity."
