From Thread: funny songs (not by weird al) Old Sat Sep 20, 2008 2:34:20 PM
heres another barenaked ladies song
another postcard:

You can't imagine so many monkeys in the daily mail
All of them coming anonymously so they leave no trail
I never thought I'd have an admirer from overseas
But someone is sending me stationary filled with chimpanzees.

Some chimps in swimsuits, some chimps are swinging from a vine
Some chimps in jackboots, some chimps that wish they could be mine.
Starsky and Hutch chimps, a chimp who's sitting on the can
A pair of Dutch chimps who send their love from Amsterdam.

CHORUS (x2):
Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me.

If I had to guess, I'd say the monkey-sender thinks it's great
He's sending me, maybe she's sending me just to see me get irate
I'm losing sleep - and it's gonna be keeping me up all night
I thought it was funny, but now I've got money on a monkey fight.

Some chimps in hard hats, chimps a-working on a chain gang
Some chimps who love cats, burning rubber in a Mustang
A birthday-wishing chimp, a chimp in black like a goth
A goin' fishin' chimp, a British chimp in the bath.

CHORUS (x2)

Somehow they followed me even though I packed and moved my home
No matter what, they come and they come they won't leave me alone
Another monkey in the mail could make me lose my mind
But look at me shuffling through the stack until I finally find

Some chimps in swimsuits
Some chimps in Jackboots
Some chimps in hard hats
Some chimps who love cats
I've got some shaved chimps; that's chimps devoid of any hair
I've got depraved chimps dressed up in women's underwear.

Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me.
Every one is, every one is, every one is addressed to me.
Every one is, every one is, every one is addressed to me.

CHORUS (x4)

Some chimps in swimsuits, Some chimps in Jackboots
Some chimps in hard hats, Some chimps who love cats
I've got some shaved chimps; that's chimps devoid of any hair
I've got depraved chimps dressed up in women's underwear.
Starsky and Hutch chimps, a chimp who's sitting on the can
A pair of Dutch chimps who send their love from Amsterdam.
Some chimps in Mustangs, Some chimps in chain gangs
I got a birthday wishin' chimp and I got the goin' fishin' chimp

Entertainment PCs are really taking over the living room. The need for low profile cards is rising and the Sapphire Radeon HD 3450 steps in to fill that need.

From Thread: The Lappy 4000 By Tornado Old Thu Sep 18, 2008 6:32:24 AM
First, some background: My Vista Ultimate install on the Lappy broke both of the Interstate games for some reason (they both should work, but they don't. And I'm not going to fight them). This is unacceptable. I want to dual boot Vista Ultimate and Media Center 2005 to solve the problem (as well as various other game annoyances), so I can use Media Center for various iffy programs; but my current hard drive is too small to do so. So I bought a 160 GB drive, and I want to transfer everything over from my old drive so I don't have to blow a weekend reinstalling everything. What is the best way to do so, and is it even possible?

It should be also noted that SD cards draw less power than SDHC for things that use battery power (Digital cameras, for example).

From Thread: NOW SAPPHIRE HD 4870 goes TOXIC! Old Mon Sep 15, 2008 5:16:30 PM
Exclusive Vapor-X cooler on new high performance graphic card

SAPPHIRE Technology has just announced global availability of a new HD 4870 TOXIC Edition in its latest family of high performance graphics accelerators.

The SAPPHIRE HD 4870 TOXIC Edition features the award winning - and SAPPHIRE exclusive -Vapor-X cooler, SAPPHIRE’s implementation of Vapour Chamber Technology (VCT). This advanced cooling solution is used for the core logic and together with three heatpipes and thermally controlled fan venting outside the case provides more efficient and quieter cooling than competing solutions for this generation of high performance graphics. The SAPPHIRE HD 4870 TOXIC edition ships overclocked out of the box for an immediate high performance graphical or gaming experience, and the advanced hybrid cooling solution provides enthusiasts with further scope for performance tuning.

The SAPPHIRE HD 4870 TOXIC has 512MB of high performance GDDR5 memory, clocked at 1000MHz (4Gbps effective) and the GPU core is pre-overclocked at 780MHz. Supporting AMD CrossFireX technology, two high speed connectors on each card allow 2, 3 or even 4 cards to be daisy-chained together for enhanced performance when installed in a suitable CrossFireX mainboard.

All SAPPHIRE graphics cards in the HD 4000 series incorporate the latest ATI Avivo™ HD Technology for enhanced Video display and feature a second generation built in UVD (Unified Video decoder) for the hardware accelerated decoding of Blu-ray™ and HD DVD content for both VC-1 and H.264 codecs, as well as Mpeg files, considerably reducing CPU loading. The dedicated HDMI adaptor has 7.1 surround sound support and delivers audio and video output on a single cable for direct connection to an HDMI ready display.

SAPPHIRE HD 4000 series graphics cards are Microsoft Windows Vista™ Premium certified and supported by the ATI Catalyst® suite of software, ensuring customers have ongoing access to software updates for performance, stability and added features. Support for DirectX10.1 provides developers with access to enhanced programming techniques and new lighting effects.

From Thread: Best Buy Buys Napster Old Mon Sep 15, 2008 6:17:05 AM
There is a new news item posted at »ASE Labs

»Best Buy Buys Napster

Who still uses Napster after being gutted by the RIAA? Whoever it is, Best Buy wants a piece.

Quote

In Napster, retail heavyweight Best Buy is getting itself a one-time contender in the field of online entertainment. A decade ago, Napster was virtually synonymous with digital music--a notoriety that earned it the wrath of the music industry. That contributed to its demise, along with the rise of alternatives such as Kazaa and LimeWire. Napster eventually reinvented itself as a subscription service, and it says it now counts 700,000 subscribers. Best Buy plans to use both Napster's technological capabilities and its subscriber base to reach consumers looking to explore digital music and other forms of entertainment "beyond music subscriptions" over a variety of electronic devices. The acquisition, Best Buy contends, will give it extra oomph in dealing with record labels, movie studios, and hardware makers.
