Signs? Far more support from the companies. Far more support on the player side of things.
And saying digital distribution is anywhere near feasible in the next 10 years is silly. HDD are not big enough to do so, nor is the internet fast enough.
Porn industry is a non-issue, because most of that is covered by Digital Distribution.
And the BDA did not ban porn outright. They just stated they would not publish any titles. There is already porn on the format.

Biotransformations using micro-organisms are indeed a fascinating area of work. I'd heard of fuel made with sugar-producing beetroots, but is was basically an alcohol extracted from the plant. If we can get micro-organisms to synthesise fuel, that will revolutionise the whole petroleum industry. And we do need new sources of energy if we don't want to look very stupid once the fossil fuels have rune out!

»Dell Takes Dell Again

Michael Dell has taken the reigns of Dell once again. The former CEO of Dell is blamed to cause much of Dell's current problems.

Quote

"The usual bag of tricks--leveraging the supply chain and their economies of scale--hasn't worked," Richard Shim, an analyst with IDC, said after Dell announced the departure of Rollins. Dell has lost both its market share lead and most-favored hardware company status on Wall Street to Hewlett-Packard. In trying to regain market share, Dell may have spent too much time bottom-feeding on the low end of the PC market, eroding the operating margins that were once the envy of the entire PC industry.

»Sony Flubs Up Again: Don\'t Licence New Rumble Technology.

Quote

Still hopeful that Sony might one day bring rumble back to the PlayStation 3? It doesn't look like it's going to happen. A company called SplitFish has announced new rumble tech that works with motion sensing and sidesteps Immersion's patents, but Sony told GameDaily BIZ that it's not interested.

Linky
So, to try to save face in light of this new technology, Sony is again pointing out that rumble wouldn't work with the SixAxis technology; despite the fact that everyone and their mother knew full well that it was a lie far before Immersion called Sony on it.
What exactly are they trying to prove?

I was alluding to your spelling and grammar with my post, but I don't want you to think that it was limited to that. I was also alluding to the point that this has been said by nearly every major religion in the world better than you have said it. I just think if you're going to make a point like this, then cite your sources. Especially for your subject title.

From Thread: Solar Power Companies Get Serious Old Wed Jan 31, 2007 7:39:47 AM
The installation and running costs of solar power plants make them pure science-fiction for the moment. But who knows, maybe some ingenious device will soon be invented to harness the energy of the Sun for the same amount of money that we spend to tame that of nuclear fission and fusion. Only then will this source of energy be profitable and really useful.

From Thread: Liquid water on Mars! Old Wed Jan 31, 2007 7:36:22 AM
Let's not forget that, even in high Summer, the surface temperatures of Mars do not allow for liquid water to flow. It is thought that this water, if present, could be in its liquid form below the surface, but there is so far no evidence.

However, if Mars does have liquid water somewhere, then the chances that life might also be present are fairly high. No little green men, but rather some primitive prokaryotes.

From Thread: Cell Phones Don't Cause Cancer Old Wed Jan 31, 2007 1:38:31 AM
I don't know if mobile phones cause any kind of disease, but it has been demonstrated that they somehow affect the quality of the sperm of men who wear their phone at the belt or anywhere near the genitals. The sperm count is statistically significantly lower and the motility of the cells is also reduced. This doesn't happen for men who have their phone in the front pocket of their shirt or have no phone at all.

These results are based on serious research, but the link between irradiation and spermatogenesis hasn't been clearly established. The statistics are there as a warning, though.

From Thread: Of toads and snakes: Evolution at work Old Tue Jan 30, 2007 2:25:58 AM
A recent article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences caught my attention. A research group has investigated the snake population of two Japanese islands -- namely Ishima and Kinkazan -- and has made some interesting findings about their behaviour with respect to toads.

Those snakes, a species of keelback snakes called Rhabdophis tigrinus (Tiger grooved-neck keelback, or simply Tiger keelback), exhibit a different reaction when attacked. Whereas the snakes on Kinkazan flee, those on Ishima stand their ground and fight, relying on their poison. However, this particular species of snake is unable to synthesise its own venom. But R. tigrinus found on Ishima have been demonstrated to harbour bufadienolide compounds (toad toxins) in their neck (nuchal) glands.

The investigation of the origin of the toxins indicated that they were obtained from the snakes' diet. Whereas most animals, including snakes, avoid eating toads because of the toxins contained in their skin, R. tigrinus on Ishima island not only survive the ingestion of those toxins, but also store them for their own defense. This was confirmed by feeding the snakes a toad-free or toad rich diet and measuring the amount of bufadienolide contained in their nuchal glands.

The research team also showed that baby snakes benefit these toxins too. Snake mothers with high toxin levels were shown to pass on the compounds to their offspring, thus allowing them to enjoy the toad-derived protection.

So snakes of the same species living on different islands exhibit different behaviours that confer them a different survival advantage. Whereas the snakes on Kinkazan will keep struggling and fleeing, those on Ishima will thrive on a toad diet that will allow them to face predators more efficiently. Like Darwin's account of finches' beaks on different islands, this observation confirms once again the (so-called) theory of evolution.

What's the smallest partition you allow for your system drive, taking into account the time it takes to LONG format?

Do you LONG format the secondary partion as well? Do you even do two partitions on the same fixed disk?
