The Space theme has been updated and no longer has that tiled effect.

The science forum uses it as its theme: »http://www.aseforums.com/viewforum.php?forumid=28

I'm going to be working on new icons as well soon.

From Thread: Backups: What You Should Know Old Mon Oct 2, 2006 6:05:23 PM
Just some stream of consciousness and mental masturbation: First, I can not emphasize how unreliable optical media can be. A study done on CDR media found that 50% of average media was UNREADABLE after 2 years in typical storage. Arhchival Media (Delkin, Memorex Pro, MAM in Optimum conditions will last 100 years, but you have to treat the media right! Iomega pushed Zip as a safer alternative for storage for most (careless) people, but face it, Zip is as up to date as cave wall etchings. Aron writes about Rev...we use it here to a limited extent and we use it for our end users where it is easy to deal with, acts just like a HD and now comes in a 70GB uncompressed format. As far as some of the more interesting ideas are concerned, there is increasing reliability of inexpensive SAN devices where a RAID mirror can be formed in a geographically disparate area. Each drive will have seperate IP addresses and now you can have a copy of your data in 2 or more seperate locations as long as you have adequate bandwidth between them. The devices I have seen are still too buggy for my tastes but they improve every day. I am using an Intel Storage Server (SS4000E) and am thrilled. It is a flexible and inexpensive NAS that hold 4 SATA drives in a variety of configurations. I use it to back up all of my systems and then write the important data from it to tape.

lol ok theres a mase alright? and i THINK from what i remember theres a temple where you have to give 300,000 or something like that to the gods (charity) and you get a mase. BUT if you evil you only have to give around 30,000 and you get the same thing, besides the sword of aeons or w/e its called its probably the next best thing. sorry if its confusing but i haven't played the game in a few years.

From Thread: Purchase PS3s, Sony tanks Old Fri Sep 29, 2006 10:05:52 PM

Said By Tornado

Said By Cycle09

So you're saying Gears of War is possible on the regular Xbox, and this is only a high res 360 version?

Quite honestly, from what I've seen, other than the high-res stuff I've seen nothing that could not have been done on the original XBox, if only because nonone ever pushed the boundaries of that system like they did with the PS2 because MS dumped all support for it.

Said By Cycle09

Remember the Nintendo 64 cartridges cost $59.99? I remember Phantasy Star 2 for the Sega Genesis cost $79.99, in 1990. Waaay overpriced, I agree.

That was for a totally different reason. With the N64, Nintendo basically said STFU when developers complained that the cartridges were expensive, so they raised prices to compensate because the medium was mor expensive. Genny and SNES games were more expensive at the time because of the huge drop of the Japanese economy in 1989 all the way up to 2002, not to mention lack of a standard for game costs and the cartridge based games (Sega CD games cost considerably less on average, if I remember correctly).

Said By Cycle09

I will agree, $60 bucks per game is a lot of money to pay, but thankfully, new games like "Just Cause" is $49.99 on the 360 regular price.

Or TDU, which is only $40.

Speaking of which, CDs are way too fucking expensive, and the only recording artist who gives a shit about giving a lil' value to the fans is Weird Al. We're talking 5.1 mixes, music videos, behind the scenes extras, etc etc etc etc. Of course, he also has the very funny and sarcastic "Don't download this song".

I don't think Hawaii is a priority on that rollout.

I've been reading that Verizon is laying fiber in many news areas, though.

I also know that the lowest tier service is very fast and priced to move.

Yeah we'll probably get it in about 15 years or so.

From Thread: NYC may ban trans fat Old Fri Sep 29, 2006 7:03:58 PM
It's amusing, you know this whole thing was spurred by people who could not control what they ate and decided "Why am I worried about this? The government should do all my thinking for me!" and went on a crusade to save their obvious stupidity. I remember having to do an essay last year for english about a possible 'Fat tax', a tax for foods high in fat. The obvious problem with the government regulating this thing for the dumbass people who have no self-control is that, as was suggested, the people who make the foods with trans fat will move if they can. Thus, they remove the food from the area. All the food places that stay there will've obviously had to change to a non trans fat which is more expensive. The food prices go up, as can be expected, and suddenly the poor have nothing to eat.

At least, that's the problem with a fat tax. You can only influence people with money to purchase healthier foods by raising the price of unhealthy food. You just screw the people who can't afford either
