The Russians will be playing golf in space (of course paid for by some golfing company). It will last like 3 years in space before burning up. Yes, one more piece of trash floating in space.

From Thread: Guess The Game: Game Cover Edition Old Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:25:43 PM
So, here's what to do: post a game's box art with sections blanked out, but still leaving the overall box size and dimensions intact. State the console(s), country, whether the box art was the same worldwide, and whether it is the box art, manual art or both. Only two guesses max per post. For every hint given, the point value drops by 1 (it starts at 3, after hint #1 [excluding the nescesarry ones already stated] it goes to 2, after hint #2 it goes to 1). When you guess correctly, you post up the next game cover.
Leaderboard:
nilch.

System: Mega Drive/Genesis
Same Cover Worldwide: Yes.

From Thread: UAE takeover of US port operations Old Fri Feb 24, 2006 1:38:19 PM
The only additional leak this will add is that I can imagine it would be at least a little easier for terrorist sympathizers to infest this company. Katrina and other events have proven that we've done nothing to really fix security and organization in this country.

I wouldn't say the news has totally blown this out of proportion. UAE recognized the Taliban as a government but does not feel the same way about Israel, and the Dubai port company is owned by the government, and personally I don't like government owned businesses all that much. Call me a conservative but I don't like that socialist feel, but I suppose our president has marxist leanings so I can see why he's gung-ho for foriegn government owned companies controlling our ports.

From Thread: Tech hiring offsets outsourcing Old Fri Feb 24, 2006 1:33:03 PM
"Hello, US dell tech support here, how may I help you?"
"Well, see, my CD-ROM drive wasn't working right so I called your outsourced tech support in pakistan..."
"You're having problems installing the new one? I can walk you through that-"
"It's not that, it's just they sent this dirty nuclear bomb along with the CD-ROM drive. I'm not quite sure what to do with it!"

In a related story, yes of course we can count the UAE to be good allies, just like they were with the Taliban.

From Thread: Jurassic Beaver Old Thu Feb 23, 2006 12:00:37 PM
Yep, archeologists found an old beaver.

http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn8769

But the newly found fossil reveals that early mammals were also far more diverse than thought. The discoveries "are completely reconfiguring our understanding of Mesozoic mammals," says Hans-Dieter Sues of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History.

Castorocauda was preserved it in exquisite detail, flattened in sediments at the bottom of an ancient lake. Hair impressions surround the body, which includes a 20-centimetre-long flat, beaver-like tail. Two slabs of sedimentary rock include most of the body and part of the skull.

Just what I've always wanted! A computer inside me!

Enzymes are already widely used to assist calculations using specially encoded DNA. These DNA computers have the potential to surpass the speed and power of existing silicon computers because they can perform many calculations in parallel and pack a vast number of components into a tiny space.
