The writing is going to get on the wall real soon if Apple keeps this up. They've been able to get away with it for the most part, and it has been real successful for them, but if they don't cut this proprietary "we're the only ones allowed to do the things we do" shit, they are going to be in big trouble.
When the iPad begins to flounder after a month or so (and it will), I hope they look at it as a wake up call and not as the "the public wasn't ready for our genius" type of arrogance that they showed when Apple TV sputtered and died.
