Heeeelp.... my computer won't even turn on!!

Alrighty, here are my computer specs:

Motherboard: Asus P4V8X-X (RMA'd, hopefully have one soon)
CPU: Pentium 4 2.26 Ghz
Video card: Gigabyte Radeon 9250
Sound card: on-board
Memory: 128MB DDR
Case: CasEdge, it's silver and stuff
Hard drive: 20 GB
CD drive: Liteon DVD-ROM drive
Floppy drive: Some old one, btu it's good.

Alright, here's teh problem. I got the parts, and built it, I like 100x's checked it, and everything is connected right. But it doesn't want to turn on!! so I thought, 'Maybe the psu is crappy,' and bought one of 350W. I tried and it still doesn't turn on! So, I RMA'd teh mobo, thinking it messed up.

And I got it back 2 days ago, saying that 'no troubles found.' So, I reckon.. maybe the has burned out? Help, please. >.<

Clear the CMOS on it, reseat all the components. Run it lean (Meaning only video, RAM and CPU). Does it work when you do that?

I emant the that the cpu prob'ly dun't work...

Anyhow, it's the computer I was talking about building.. it hasn't truned on since I built it.

And, how do I clear teh CMOS? Is that in teh manual or something?

There is a jumper on it to clear the CMOS (or BIOS). Look in the manual.

Nope. I'm getting nothing. The psu makes a dooo sound whenm plugged, and it's not doing that...

EDIT: /...... the back switch wasn't on, lol.

No progress at all.... I have it lean, as you say.

If there is no power at all, then its either 1. The power supply is bad. 2. The power connectors are't hooked up to the motherboard correctly. At the very least, there should be some fans turning on and the motherboard should be lighting up.

You may want to try and run it lean while not in the case and on a protected surface. Make sure your processer is working by testing it in another machine and make sure its SEATED properly. Use only a single stick of memory that has been tested as good.

The best way to find the problem is to find what its not.

First, the idiot test:

1) Switch on power supply
2) Incorrect wiring of front panel header
3) CPU fan not connected
4) RAM/Video Card/PCI Card not seated correctly
5) Switch on case defective

Second, I would recommend the following:

1) Only hookup the following: Power supply to mainboard, CPU seated in mainboard w/ heatsink/fan installed (fan connected!), no RAM, no addon cards, no video card.
2) HOOK UP PC SPEAKER! (for testing)
2) Use a flathead screwdriver to trigger a 'power on' on the front panel pin-out header.

Result: You should hear a series of beeps. Short Short Long or LONG LONG. Or... If it still does not power on, and since you have RMA'd the motherboard, the CPU may have a problem.

it may be possible that you touched the CPU with your hands before grounding yourself and fried the crap out of it or as Chris Reid said look at the way you placed the wires on the front of the motherboard look at the manual for more information these things could get tricky
