The Dukes of Hazzard - 2005

Well. I "unfortunately" grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard television series throughout most of it's run. It was a good family series. I for one loved it as a child.

HOWEVER. The reason I use unfortunate in the above statement is due to the fact that this movie in no way portayed the same plot/storyline/wholesome fun that the TV series did...if I had never seen the TV series that this movie was "supposedly" based on, I would have been far less disappointed!

Now I know what you might be thinking...why compare it so much to the TV show? Well dumbasses, it was titled after the TV show, it was supposed to be "based on" the TV show, but it in no way came close. Hell, the General Lee(The Duke's car for all your newbs) had doors that opened at the beginning of the movie...WTF?

The acting in this movie was terrible. Jessica Simpson really needs to stick to what she does best...nothing.
As for the others, Johnny Knoxville as Bo Luke, Seann William Scott as Luke Duke, M.C. Gainey as Rosco P. Coltrane, Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg...and Willy Nelson as Uncle Jesse lacked everything where the TV show was concerned.

Well for starters, the actors that played Bo and Luke seemed to really drag this movie down, as did Jessica Simpsons acting. Burt Reynolds did an OK job of portraying Boss Hogg, but in the TV series, Boss Hogg was a short fat guy that did not want to takle the town down, he mooched money off the town. Willy Nelson as Uncel Jesse told one line jokes through the whole movie and at the end was found smoking pot in the Shed... Uncle Jesse in the TV series was as pure as sunshine...
and laslty, Rosco being played by a hardass type actor like M.C. Gainey was a total mimatch! Rosco was a dorky brainless nitwit in the series...not a hardass...sheesh.

AND FINALLY. Bo and Luke Duke NEVER ran Moonshine in the TV series ever! It was Boss Hogg that ran Moonshine. Bo and Luke were the real "law" behind the Rosco and his Deputies in the show...They were the ones always busting the bad guys in the show.

What a tragedy this movie was.

In my opinion hollywood, if you are going to make a movie based on a TV series, do just that. Base it on the freaking TV series. Otherwise call it something else, like Two Jackasses from Hazzard County or whatever. I found that this movie was nothing more than a spit in the face of true blue Dukes of Hazzard fans!

P.S. I chuckled maybe once or twice during the whole movie, but that was only at times when someone madde a jacksass out of themselves...nothgng in this movie was seriously funny or meaningful at all!

The stupid movie was based on a TV series(did you know that?), HOWEVER, it in no way came close to the same aura that the TV series had or even the same darn storyline as the series. Hence my previous statement to Hollywood and all directors and producers. If you are going to make a Movie "based on" a TV series, then for Goodness sakes, do just that. They didn't even come close. That's the big disappointment in this movie. I sure the hell did not expect the Shawshank Redemption, so don't even compare it to that. I know exactly what I expected. I expected it to be just like the TV series it was based on. No more, no less. Is that TOO much to ask for? Otherwise, the dumbasses should have never based it on a TV series that it in no waycame close to.

Heck, you don't even know the "Mechanic's" name do you? Without looking it up? So, my friend, how can you relate? If you never saw the TV series and knew what it was about then you were one of the fortunate ones that simply saw a half-ass funny movie movie with a bunch of car chases and Jessica Simpson's cleavage in every scene she was in.(I'm not complaining too much about that part)

Oh and I am not busting on your apparent "buddy' Knoxville...none of the actors did any good acting in this movie. Not even mediocre acting.

I could go on forever on this one...so keep 'em coming!

That's not true. Them calling it the Dukes of Hazzard made it susceptible to attacks such as that from the start. Yes, many people went to see car chases and such, but why is that? Because it had things like that in the TV show.

hmmm....imagine that! I guess my review wasn't too far off with the majority.
Seems moslty teenyboppers who are into fast paced mediocre violence, half assed acting from a bosom busting blonde and half ass jokes from an old country singer enjoy this movie.
Good for them then Their money was well spent!

"If this movie should be renamed, it should be "The Jackasses of Hazzard." To sum it up, this movie is nothing but 88 minutes of two immature country punks joyriding the famed 1968 Dodge Charger around town and in the country, chasing the girls and eluding the law.

I have been a fan of the "Dukes" and what tarnishes the movie is the characters are out of key. The overindulgence of profanity, sexual references, and drug use, has made the good name of the "Dukes" into trailer trash.

Side from comparing it to the television show, the acting was horrible. The only actor that got it right was the famed 1969 Dodge Charger named General Lee. The others have exaggerated the character's role which tarnished the movie.

The "Dukes" have been another casualty of the 21-st century Hollywood television-to-big screen transition tragedy. Skip this movie and just buy the television series on DVD."

IMDB is great, but I love Rotten Tomatoes. For one, it's not covered in morons like IMDB can be. I like reading well-written reviews, not "d00d, it suxxxXXXX".

Sometimes, when I see a preview of a new movie, i'll turn to my friend and we'll both say, "...man, that looks like it's gonna suck, huh?" Then, when it comes out and gets a 16% ROTTEN score, I know I can safely ignore it.

Most movies suck nowadays. Especially half-assed, "warmed-over-for-general-consumption" hollywood remakes of shows I liked when I was a kid.

Yee haw, indeed.
