Q. about RAM settings in BIOS Sat Mar 26, 2011 6:44:24 AM#151576Perm Link
OK I understand most of the Mobo manual but one thing has me tripped up and confused. I know I will be using 2[ 8GB (2 x 4GB)] sets of DDR3 and that I need to keep the matched pairs in slot 1 and 3 then 2 and 4 for dual channel. The manual has a setting for DRAM configuration> DCTs Mode that says it allows for memory control mode;
"DCTs Mode
Allows you to set memory control mode.
Ganged Sets memory control mode to single dual-channel.
Unganged Sets memory control mode to two single-channel. (Default)"
I do not know which to set to for dual channel with all 4 dimm slots occupied and working as dual channel. I think it would be the first one but I am not clear with this terminology.
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3, Phenom II X4 970 Black @ 3.5, G.Skill Sniper DDR3-1600 4 X 4 gig's, WD Black 7200rpm 1.5 TB, ATI Fire-Pro V4800 Kubuntu & Ubuntu 64-bit on separate primary partitions and sharing Doc.'s,Music and Pictures on a Logical Partition.
Thx; I agree it is weird terminology. I was thinking the first option too because it uses the term "dual Channel". I guess I'll try it and double check that it reads all 16GB of RAM.
