...is not entirely true. You can actualy fix this problem with middle button and Firefox. You don't have to shut down SetPoint, just set middle button as "Generic Button" and it will work just fine. And that works with all Logitech mices...
In SetPoint select middle button, under "Set Task" choose "Other", then click "Select Function" button and select Generic Button from drop down menu. Enjoy.
