Firefox 2.0: Change close button for tabs

In about:config (type about:config in the address bar)...

The setting is browser.tabs.closeButtons.

The values:

0 - Display close button only on the active tab
1 - Display close buttons on every tabs
2 - Never display close buttons
3 - Display single close button like FF 1.5.

Could anyone perhaps help explain why it doesn't work for me?

Tab Mix Plus should also take care of it as well.
