" w-well i've only ever seen another of my kind once so...i suppose we're a ra-rare commodity...." she whimpers at this "b-but you're hardly normal yourself moggy~" she chimes, motioning to his tail "i know you're not one of mine because you smell different...."
this was a lie.
he smelt so familiar and similar to her it hurt because she couldn't figure out why....
“I guess there is no use in hiding these anymore either then?” He sighs, reaching his hands up to remove the turban. He lets it drop to the floor, beside the mask. Oz’s ears perk up and then twitch, enjoying their newfound freedom.
“And I do wish I were one of you, actually. Because then I’d actually know what I am.” Oz lightly smiles.
It was true. He really didn’t know what he was. . . and it would be nice to have some sort of title. . .
"no you're not! you're a cat! hell you could be a werecat!" she shrugged "i heard of people called werebears who parade around in a bears pelt and kill things...m-maybe y-you're just as d-different?" she suggested, clearly delighted at not being the only one with ears like that.
"Did you see what I had done when I rescued you?" Oz's brow raises as he asks her this question. But he did feel better from her words. He was glad that she was trying to reassure him.
"n-no.... i just.....i thought you were an angel at the time and i....i saw nothing but them dying.... and then it all went black...." she says confused "sorry..." kierca mumbled.
"Actually that's good." Oz sighs, scratching his head for a moment. He was glad she hadn't seen. It was one thing for her to see his face. . . but it would have been another for her to see his true self.
"So. . . Kierca. . . may I ask some questions now?" He lightly smiles.
"u-um... i su-suppose so..." kierca says, tilting her head in confusion. why would he want to know things about her? he didn't look like a hunter or a mage.... so she supposed he wouldn't try to kill her depending upon her answers...
"i've always lived in russia just... not this area... i lived in the richer parts of moscow.... but i can't go back there now... or ever really..." she sighed, looking down at her lap, sorrow in her eyes.
"Hey. . . maybe you'll be able to some day. . ." Oz tilts his head slightly as he picks her chin up with two fingers. He slides his hand away from her face, smiling. "I really don't want to prod and ask a bunch of personal questions." He chuckles. "So I guess I'll stop there. I can't stand seeing such pain in your eyes. . ." His smile turns soft.
"n-no it's fine.... i've just....not really tried to think about back then you know? cause i've done terrible things...and THEY wouldn't be proud of me...so i choose to not think about them...but...i think i could talk with you...." she says, furrowing her brow in frustration "i don't know why but... i feel... like... i know you? and that i could...trust you?"
Oz had prepared a meal for himself and Kierca. It consisted of cooked pig and various fruits and vegetables. He was quite proud of his work, and finishes with setting the table. He was also happy due to the fact that Kierca seemed to be feeling better. She no longer looked like the mummy he had seen while in Egypt.
And even Oz had finally found a change of clothes, having stolen them from one of the houses in the nearby village. It was a simple shirt and pair of pants, allowing his tail to move freely with the whole he had made in them. He had even decided to pull his long hair into a ponytail, feeling much better with it that way instead of all over the place - and mostly in his face.
kierca huffed as she walked back inside the house, having gone out for fresh air. " it's getting warmer out there you know... russia never used to be this warm...." she says, frowning before seeing the food and grinning widely, her face lighting up.
" you caught a pig today? you're getting to be a better huntsman you know oz~!" she teased, tail wagging excitedly behind her as she made her way to the table.
she now wore her outfit that she'd taken to wearing over the years, her little red imitation and she found out that at some point during her stay in the house, covered by bandages that oz had washed it for her....
it no longer smelled of blood and fear and death....
it smelled of life and joy and..... love?
kierca shook her head slightly, she was over thinking things again.
Oz puffs his cheeks out as he looks at Kierca, his brows knitting as he grabs a knife and stabs the pig with it. "I always liked to think of myself as at least a decent hunter ya know." He responds, arms folded over chest as his tail twitches.
He then smiles brightly, and starts to carve the large animal, placing the hunks of meat onto a separate plate. He hands it over to Kierca, looking at her. His heart always seemed to skip a beat when he was around her.
And he has known her for months now.
Yet the affect she had on him was always the same.
Finding his voice, Oz says to her as he sits at the table, "You look very beautiful today."
kierca is about halfway to feeding a piece of meat into her mouth when she stops midway, a surprised sort of whine coming from her "i-um... thank you?" she says nervously. she didn't know how to deal with compliments that weren't from family....
"y-you're looking h-handsome t-today too..." she says quietly, a blush creeping up on her face.
before her mouth can do anymore damage however, she shoves the entire piece of meat into her mouth and rips it to shreds via her fangs to get herself to shut up.
Oz chuckles a quiet "Thank you" feeling his own blush creep onto his face as he starts to eat. His mouth watered with every bite. He had seasoned the pig with whatever he could find, as he wasn't a major fan of meat itself. Especially when it came to things like fish.
He watches Kierca eat for a moment, the smile plastered on his face.
"t-the food is g-great.... n-not quite up to m-my mothers standards but...but it'll have to do.. i... i suppose" she says when she's finished her first slice of meat and goes for a second, this time choosing to eat carefully rather than devour the entire thing whole again.
"I guess I could take that as a compliment." Oz snickers, taking another bite. He swallows, takes in a quiet breath, and then looks at Kierca once more. "You said it was warm outside. . . would you like to go for a walk after we eat?" He wonders aloud, the blush becoming heavier on his face.
"i...um... yes... there's a nearby forest isn't there? i'd like to see it...i-if that's fine?" kierca asks, unsure if she's as much a prisoner here than she thinks.
"Of course that's fine!" Oz beams, getting to his feet as lifting his plate swiftly off the table. He walks over and places it on one of the counters, deciding he would wash it later.
Oz is quick to clean off the table, setting everything aside to be dealt with later. He grabs a small bag he had put together about a week ago, and fills it with apples. Fixing the bag on his back, Oz smiles, "I'm ready when you are!"
"i'm ready! i was born ready!" she chimes, almost bolting out of the door " just... can we go now? like NOW? cause... i really need the outside..." kierca laughs sheepishly.
"Why have you stayed with me. . . I-I mean. . . I th-thought when you started to feel better. . . that you would have left. . ." Oz wonders aloud. It was a question that he had wanted to ask for a while now.
"....w-why are y-you letting me stay?" she asks "i th-think that's a better question here.... because i'm perfectly fine with never leaving.... i-it's the first time i've proper lived in a h-house in years..." she says, frowning.
