Hubble may get new instruments

The servicing mission to Hubble (if done) would bring new ultraviolet imaging to Hubble's view.

This is great news considering that the service mission is going through.

Indeed it is. I really thought NASA was going to tank the Hubble due to this Moon, Mars, and beyond bull but I guess they didn't. What a relief about that, though Hubble will inevitable come up for evaluation again, but for now its safe for the astronomers and masses.

Yeah, but by then the JWST will be up and take over many duties of Hubble.

There comes a time when service just doesn't work anymore.

hubble is quite good, they don't need to waste money like. hubble can already watch through the interstellar dust in the center of galaxies or anywhere.

That is a very good point.. If it's not broke, don't fix it, right?

On the other hand, anything that will advance our knowledge of the final frontier will ultimately aid us in the future, so maybe it is a good thing that they are upgrading Hubble.

what is the great deal about it? if there is some other thing then they have not given us any information about it.

Maintenance is required

well they are not maintaining it, they are kind of upgrading it or whatever they say!
they are only saying they are adding new instruments for getting ultraviolet images. they should have said 'replacing' then.

They are adding new gyros and instruments to prolong the life of the telescope. It will provide science up to 2020.
