Minecraft server!?

I'm thinking of starting an open vanilla Minecraft server.

Anyone play?

Would anyone be interested if I opened one?

I play Minecraft, yeah. Sounds like it could be fun.

Then done. It'll be running by the end of the week.

I'll host it from my FiOS service. It should be good for like 10-20 players.

50/25mbps service.

It is basically Vanilla... It has some anticheat plugins, though.

PvP and griefing is allowed.

Join the server for load testing. The world will be changed after the testing is completed. I want to do an ocean spawn server. Those are really fun.

Is there a password for it? I'll check it out later today (Sorry for the delay. Been busy with school lately).

No password.

Ocean spawn means that you spawn in the middle of a giant ocean.

You get a boat and a fishing pole, that's it. Find resources, survive.

The first 30 people to login get some extra stuff, too!

I've been a lot more busy with shit than I thought I was going to be. After Christmas I should have a lot of free time.

As an update... I found land about 14000 blocks from spawn using the nether fast transport trick. Still a pain in the ass, though.

I don't know what's going to happen with the 1.5 update.

There's land in all directions, but some directions are farther than others. Just keep going.

Are you the griefer that destroyed my island?

Okay, someone nearly killed all my mooshrooms on my mushroom island. WTF! Who did it?

Minecraft 1.5 update is out. The server will be updated this weekend...

And it brings a RESET of the world. Everyone starts from scratch. It gets boring at the end game.

Do you plan to reset the map after every version update?

No, just this one due to the nether updates. Plus, I might change to large biomes for a twist...

Large biomes could be neat.

I'll leave it at 1.4.7 until 1.5.1 is released.

Mojang needs to fix some bugs in 1.5. I'm surprised they made it into the release (like the falling gravel thing).

Updated! 1.5.1. Brand new. Large biomes. Crazy harder now.

The server will be updated with 1.6.2 soon! There will be no reset.

1.6.2 is the one that's supposed to have horses in it, right?

Yes, it is the horse update. It's got some other stuff as well. I rate it kind of meh on this "major" update. Horses aren't that impressive. I'd rather other passive mobs and such.

I'm thinking of getting Minecraft after I have some spare cash. Looks to be a good way to pass time, and the stuff I've seen made in that game so far has really blown my mind on occasion!
