ENHANCE! (Work in Progress)

Hatsumi sits atop the branch of a tree in the schoolyard, one leg outstretched as she lays across, and the other dangling. She squints as the sunlight streams through leaves, and soon produces a subtle sigh. Cupping a hand over her eyes, Hatsumi sits up on the branch, and glances over at the building. She is done for the day, which she can say she is very thankful for. Hatsumi can only take so much of the rest of her class. Too many of the Class B students think highly of themselves. At least those are the ones that stand out the most to her. And annoy her the most. With a quiet scoff, Hatsumi leaps out of the tree. Her feet lightly tap against the grass as she lands, not so much as making a single sound.

“There’s the brat from before!”

Hatsumi turns around to see a young man with flaming red hair. Her eyes rest upon the tattoo on his fist, and she gives one blink. And then another. Finally, it clicks, and she tilts her head just the slightest. Hatsumi recognizes him as Rokurou Susumu, a student within her class.



“You were talking crap about some of my friends and I!” He snorts, pounding his tattooed fist into the palm of his other hand. It was an attempt to threaten, but Hatsumi continues to just stare at him. Ah, she remembers now. Hatsumi had spotted Rokurou and several of his friends beating on underclassmen. She had stepped up and stopped them, and provided a couple of words. More or less, Hatsumi informed them that if they were of a higher intelligence as well as actually contained self-confidence in their own abilities they wouldn’t feel the need to beat on those weaker than them. Or, at least it had been something along those lines. Possibly not as
kindly put.

Two other kids appear behind Rokurou, arms folded over chest and unhappy expressions on their faces. Hatsumi’s brows knit as her hands form into fists, and she grits her teeth. The two kids go to step up, but Rokurou holds up a hand to stop them. “No, this one is mine.” He smirks, making his way closer to Hatsumi. “You want us to go against someone of our own class? Then so be it.”

Rokurou fixes the gloves on his hands, and then once more pounds his fist into the palm of his other hand. With this motion, both gloves ignite into bright flames. With a loud roar, Rokurou throws a fist at Hatsumi. His grin is quick to change as Hatsumi dodges the attack. Time seemed to slow as Hatsumi was in mid-dodge, with Rokurou's fist still soaring past her. In one fluid motion, Hatsumi had pulled the massive bubble wand off her back, ducked lower, and smashed the staff of the wand into Rokurou’s wide open side. Off guard, Rokurou produces a loud grunt of pain as he is taken off his feet and knocked several feet away.

Hatsumi stands straight as she puts the massive bubble wand away, and brushes her hands together. “You’ve clearly been spending too much time picking on underclassmen. Learn how to fight someone of your own class.” With that, Hatsumi turns around and starts to walk away. As she walks, Rokurou is helped up by his two friends, and he snarls. Glaring at Hatsumi’s back, he ignites his gloves once more. He throws a fist, sending a fist-shaped ball of fire hurdling towards Hatsumi. Swiftly, Hatsumi whirls around on the heel of her right foot to face the fire, and whips out a small bottle of bubbles. She is quick to remove the cap and blow a couple of bubbles. The bubbles form into orbs of light that collide with the fist, causing a small explosion.

Startled and even more frustrated, Rokurou looks at his two friends and they receive the facial message. The two rush towards Hatsumi with their own weapons ready. In response, Hatsumi once more removes the massive bubble wand from her back. She twirls it around her, and then swipes it in front of one of the friends. A large bubble engulfs one of them, and becomes solid light. The other boy tries to run away, but Hatsumi does the same to him. She then whips her bubble gun out of its holster and shoots at Rokurou. He manages to punch the first round of bubbles, but Hatsumi then gestures her wand towards Rokurou which sends the two giant bubble-engulfed friends right at him. He tries to turn around and run away, but he doesn’t move fast enough. But before they can collide with him, Hatsumi slams her wand against the ground, and the bubbles pop. Instead, the two friends end up landing right on top of Rokurou, and the three are a groaning pile on the floor.

Putting her gun and bubble wand away, Hatsumi exits the scene, hands shoved into jacket pockets.
