Are Disney movies going to be a thing of the past??? Sun Apr 29, 2007 12:32:53 PM#37598Perm Link
I'm just thinking if movies such as Bambi and Peter Pan will be forgotten after some time because these movies were made decades ago and I'm not sure how many kids will still watch them........my baby brother is all about Power Rangers.......but I grew up with them too, so who know???
lol.........I don't know-last time I went on a Disney website, which was some time ago though, these movies were still on sale.......but it's like every month that they show commercials that say "only available at this time" so I don't really know....
Disney implements a "vault" system where they release a movie (usually a classic) for a set amount of months/years before putting it away again for several years. This allows them to keep the prices up (Suncoast will sell Disney DVDs for $30, although Suncoast is more on the expensive side) and encourage people to not put off buying them. To make up for it, however, the DVDs will almost always have two discs and a ton of extras.
I assume you're talking about Classic Disney movies, not the company as a whole, being "a thing of the past" yes? Well, that depends on us, really. Most people remember watching these movies as kids and thus will seek them out to show to their own kids and that creates a cycle. I think the only way for them to completely fall out of the public eye is if Disney goes out of business or if a company comes along that makes more memorable films (and no one seems to want to make intelligent animation anymore...).
Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?
I can't believe they thought it was controversial that the heroine be named 'Maddy' and listed as a 'Chambermaid' and that Disney actually caved to change it.
