Now with Pics! I love this computer. My very first custom rig (though my 3rd computer). Built in the Spring of 2002.

I am sad to say that my reliable and strangely powerful GeForce 4 MX440 is starting to die. As a send off, I am going to try to extract as much performance as possible out of it. I already added a chunk of RAM, and tomorrow I am going to upgrade the drivers and overclock them.
After it blows, I am going to replace the MX440 with a Radeon X1550.

I changed my mind. I'm now thinking about an HD2400 Pro. Pretty much exactly as powerful, but one of them comes with (useless to me) DX10 capability and far better multimedia support (less useless). And it uses less power. Plus, I can get one for $30 on Newegg. Pretty sweet.

Update:
I said the hell with it and went all out. So, now I have a more powerful graphics card coming for this old dumpy thing than I have for my former heavyweight. Funny, eh?

Bah. Used or not, its a hella deal. Even if I can't get it to unlock it would be more powerful than the Radeons I was looking at. And if I can, then I can sell the third computer.

So, it turns out that the card was not a 6800LE as the seller thought it to be, but was in fact a Vanilla 6800. Pretty bitchin'. So, net gain. However, the way I came to know that (dual DVI) prevents me from doing anything with it until I get an adapter.

Used P4s are insanely cheap these days, probably because they are so useless. Got a new one for $15!
