So I have this Trojan

That I can't get rid of.

I have the free version of AVG Anti-Virus and it alerted me to a certain "Trojan Horse Downloader ISTbar.3.BN" located in some path called "C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFO_restore{randomnumbersandlettersgohere..." I ran my AVG Anti-Virus program and it detected no viruses. I then ran my McAfee Virus Scan program and it detected no viruses. However, every once in a while I will still get the alert the Trojan is there.

Any suggestions?

i would make sure that your scanners are upto date. if for some reason you cant do that *cough*stolen*cough* then just go to trendmicro.com and use thier free scanner.

AVG is free, so being stolen isn't an issue.

ISTbar is a piece of spyware.

Download adaware and spybot.

Well I ran Ad-Aware, I haven't downloaded Spybot. But the offending file is apparently still there. However, I'll try Spybot and get back to you on that.

If it's in the system restore area, disabled system restore. You usually don't need it anyway.
