CD-RW drive problem Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:10:52 AM#14661Perm Link
I have a CD-RW drive on an older computer and it won't always recognize CD's I put in. The problem is kinda mysterious: sometimes it will read a disc, and other times it won't (it will say there is no disk in that drive). Any suggestions on what to do? I'm pretty sure the CD's are in good condition though.
The next step is to check the cable. Replace it and see if the problem goes away. If not, check the drive. Replace the drive and see if the problem goes away. Computer repair is all about testing things out with good parts.
