Need Website Help Fri May 26, 2006 2:15:19 AM#17899Perm Link
Camrades!
Hello to Everyone.
Coming to this forum for a software recommendation.
I am almost complete newbee to web design ("false beginner")
I used to build sites entering HTML years ago but things have gone forward since.
Now I need to put together a very simple site that does look good but is not very complex.
Text, pictures, maybe one or two flash thingies, nicely formated with index in the table on the left that has all the links to subsites
and main body taking 2/3 of the width.
Question:
What FREE software would you recommend? I am looking for efficient, simply to use app that does not require much effort. Clean interface is essential. Do you have any suggestions? I tried FrontPage but it when trying to add some tags i got a complete mess out of it. So something that tolerates silly errors would be nice...
Your best bet would be to checkout layouts of some sites you like and go from there. I suggest using Textpad or any text editor and writing straight XHTML. When using XHTML, you can easily put the content and the display in different areas. For instance, this site is made up mostly of divs. I use CSS to position and style everything.
I'll look into some programs that can help you out, though.
PS: I edited your title to give you one .
2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!
