Northbridge fan speed ?

By a simple hearing test, my northbridge fan, easily the smallest fan in the box, is the loudest non-disk component in my computer. According to the BIOS and lm_sensors, it constantly revolves at about 6000 RPM; All attempts to slow it down have failed so far.
What speed would you expect for a northbridge fan (at 33°C box temp) ? Could this be a hardware failure, and if yes, of which component ?

Northbridge fans are usually crap. They are small and loud. You can replace it with a slower fan or something to that nature.

It isn't broken, just that's the normal operation.

glad to hear that... I'll look into it - maybe I could add a fan to the graphics card (which is right next to the northbridge)

I have this same problem.

The NB fan is so loud, I cannot hear a single thing with my case, except the NB fan.

I plan on getting a HONKING passive cooler pretty soon.

I just ordered a different fan (by XILENCE). I'll tell you if it's worth it when I have it. (in 3-4 days that should be I'd say)
