That band is retarded.

Its not who a person is in the inside, but what he does that defines him.

I not an aficianado of black metal or anything, but I'd have to give the nod to Bad Luck 13 if I were going to pick the best one

Is the music that plays when you go to their page a typical tune of the band?

Personally, I wasn't into what I heard.

It's a sad excuse for black metal. It's acoustic, and has marching tenor drums. It's crazy.

They're not in the least bit talented, just funny, because it is completely serious.

Emperor is the only "true" black metal band I ever got into/could tolerate, I never got into Immortal or Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir/Old Man's Child were ok and Cradle was trash but I still listened to them(they also do not count as black metal)

dimmu is/was and always will be extreme metal not black metal, cradle was never black metal and never will be. That band is ment to be a joke not to serious btw. as you can see by the guy with a volleyball in his hand...and how their logo was made with paint. emperor is fuckin amazing, watain is awesome, finntroll is sick, gorgoroth as well, there's hundreds of really good black metal bands out there, jsut hard to come across since its mostly very underground.

I have recently found a new space in my heart for Cryptopsy. I've also always appreciated Cradle of Filth and Dimmu. But at the same time I listen to MF Doom, Dangermouse, Wu-Tang, Tool, Alice in Chains, Thom Yorke, Radiohead. If I had to recommend one of my favorite metal bands, it would have to be Agalloch. I don't know the specific sub-genre, I'm not a metal aficionado, regardless of whatever the fuck it is, they're amazing, but I'm sure Bomb could tell you if you're so inclined.

I don't know who you are, but through this post you have instantly gained my respect. Agalloch is truly one of the greatest metal bands of our time. "Pale Folklore" alone is enough for them to always hold a special place in my heart (much in the way Arcane Sun does) however; they have continually and consistently released quality material.

Fair play to you, KHo, fair play to you.

I'm close friends with SpN and Bomb we all live in the same area. But yes. Agalloch is very consistent with their material which is ridiculously rare. They're very unique and ballsy with their style. They're not afraid to put a little bit of everything into their music, which is how it should be.

They're Atmospheric Folk/Dark Metal which are both really rare genre's. Pretty amazing they managed to fuse the two together.
